One of his highlight plays was he literally beating our tight end to a spot to sack malik.

Another was beating the lineman and we were lucky Fortin’s hand was moving forward. Then another salts the game away beating the same lineman in the same way, but just got there a tick earlier. We didn’t even try to find an answer for him the whole game, and just let him beat our arse.

So in college, if you hold the opponent to less than 20 you expect to win, so how do you lose those games?

By not scoring? I don’t know what you want, but the point here is everyone has been screaming about Odom all season, and giving shite when you point out that our offense is dogshit. The point is the defense has done everything they needed to do to win 3 of the 5 games we have lost, but nobody wants to call out Briles and the offense for trash play that has lost 3 games we should have won.

I haven't waisted much time here, but I've been saying the defense hasn't been the problem for a while now.

With a "tempo" "hunh" whatever your calling it, you ask the defense to not give up too many points and to create turnovers, odem has been one of the best DCs in the game for that system for over a decade now.

I don't want to see the stats that says this offense is good, it isn't.

Wins and losses are only things that matter and this season is being pissed away.

If we had a sarcasm font, this thread would have dripped it from the beginning. My point was all the people bitching about Odom all year, when it is obvious that our problem has been on the other side of the ball. Those of us that have been saying so all season have been told how stupid we are, and that we just don’t understand modern football.

It like no one wants to acknowledge that a prerequisite to be a QB is the ability to achieve the forward pass.

We don't have that.

I give Odom a pass because the defensive recruiting has been negative for years. He lost players from last year.

Briles had players returning on the offensive line with running backs and a returning top SEC QB.

But lost three games.

KJ will now have started for two years in the SEC West and isn't anywhere near a threat to be drafted. That should be the wake up call for folks.

He will be back, Hornsby transfers and Jefferson is behind a shitty offensive line.

He didn't come out of HS expected to be drafted.

He was a project that chaggie sold as the next best thing, but let's not pretend he stole him from yohwr schools who wanted him as a QB.

Secondly, load management doesn't factor in so your only QB option isn't available when needed in a year where bowl eligibility is seriously in doubt.

Lets do it like this. How many games would you say the offense pulled a no show and how many say the defense did?

I wouldn't say the offensive coaching staff is free of blame but they have undoubtedly been the better performing unit of all three for most of the year.

The offense looked like shite in the first halfs of the Missouri State and Alabama games.

This is true, but mostly because of the run game. Our run game has been elite statistically. The passing offense has been mediocre to downright bad all year.

Yeah, it doesn’t work like that. On the games we won, both the offense and defense did what it took to win. We’ve lost 5 games. Two of those games neither did what it took to win. 3 of those games, the defense performed, offense didn’t.

No. The defense in the Cincinnati, Byu, south Carolina games did enough to lose in my view. We were lucky the offense had out of body experiences those games.

I will not excuse a poor performing unit simply because the other brought it home in spite of them.

A fair assessment. However, with Sam and Briles here I don't expect to ever be a nation leader in passing yards. I expect to try to ram it down a teams throat and to be able to pass when needed.

the program was in fact on an upward trajectory when the decision was made to give Malik the benefit of the doubt that, in hindsight, he never should have been given.

I guess we lost the kid who transferred to Houston as a result

I agree, the difference I see is that it hampers us when we get down early and have to throw to catch up. I love our style of play if we can grab a lead and keep it, but that hasn't been the case. We get exposed when we are forced to throw against good defenses. It's either a quick throw to the flat, KJ looking at one read then hitting the checkdown or tucking and running, or KJ hitting a deep ball once in a blue moon 98% of the time. The other 2% being the very few times we actually run routes across the middle and hope to God KJ doesn't overthrow it or get a receiver killed.

I can't imagine we're all that hard to gameplan for as far as passing offense is concerned. The question is whether those limitations come from Briles, KJ, or a combination of both. Either way something isn't working.

Hire Chad Morris!

Blame John White! It's all John White's fault!

Let's go see what Mike Irwin and Trey Biddy think!

Never blame our boosters for f'ing up our program every 3-5 years!
