The biggest concern I have is how undisciplined, apathetic, and poorly prepared we looked in several games. That’s on coaching.
There were several games where we outright disrespected our opponents by thinking we could stroll in and name our score, and we got it shoved up our asses a few times. Missouri State, Auburn, Liberty, and Missouri were games where we looked especially apathetic and of that lackadaisical mindset, and we lost 2 of those and another was a nail biter until Stephens’ punt return.
We also lost 4 games by a combined 10 points, and 3 of them can be directly attributed to Pittman’s decision to pass up red zone field goals and go for it on 4th down. Close losses are on coaching and situational playcalling, and they felt very akin to the Bert era.
Pittman rolled a lot of 7s in 2021, and seemed to come up snake eyes a lot this year. The senior leadership was bad, the captains were weak, injury luck was *much* worse, the schedule was harder, and the breaks didn’t go our way.
Next year will define the Pittman era. Either he shows some fight, gets his confidence back, and rights the ship, or it’ll be his Waterloo at Arkansas.

quote:same boat I am. As pissed as I am about how this season went it says something about what pittmans done here that people are pissed at just making a bowl game again. That’s a good thing but shows Pittman has definitely been a shot in the arm for this program. I’ve been more disappointed with how he’s handled the off season so far than how the season went honestly

Yeah sure he cared more about getting another raise using Sexton after a decent year then the next season having a disappointing year. He got soft and his attitude changed.
I don't blame the man for getting more money but it is a bit early to be asking any raises when he has yet established some roots here.

this is the reason that i am excited about the liberty bowl game, among others...
But I want to see that youth line up and play, the younger players, our future. Did he recruit well enough to see that talent overall.
