Through 3 games the Razorback basketball team's defense is outpacing the football team's defense.

44ppg over the first three vs 49 ppg given up by the football team over its last three.

The full court pressing couldn't produce these results.

I like this better.

Plus running some offense.

Best team defense we have ever seen at UofA...So far.

Not gonna be fair to compare Musselman to our other coaches really. This team's team defense is better than Nolan's teams' team defense. So far. Eddie Sutton? Musselman is better. So far.

This could, and most likely will, change, but so far things look very bright.

Eddie's wins weren't always exciting, but they were wins.

I'm tired of feast or famine, just give me wins.

Give me an ugly win any day.

It's much more comforting to know we can actually lock down a lead if we have to rather than knowing we'll give up just as many free buckets as we get playing as fast as possible. To me it's just more practical to play this way.

Harping on Anderson is the low-hanging fruit, but I think people bring it up because in 3/4 of an offseason and 3 games into year 1, Muss has confirmed a lot of the concerns we had with Mike in the past. Mainly the in-state recruiting and style of play choice. It just is what it is at this point. The negatives will shine brighter than the positives compared to the new regime unfortunately, but I will be forever grateful to that man for bringing this program out of the sewer and setting up the next guy to succeed. Anderson was exactly what we needed when he got here, he just wasn't the long-term solution. I think that much is fair to say.

Defense travels on the road. I like the effort so far. Excited to see how they fare in a true road game.

Go ahead and watch the post game from muss, and the players.

Our players HAVE BOUGHT IN. They talk about the level of prep they do (which they say they didn't do at all last year) is absolutely mind boggling. They said they have never felt so prepared, and they said as long as they do what muss says for the game plan they 100% believe they can win, and feel like they can take on the world right now.

Talked constantly about how they don't care about how good they did in 1 game. Said it was just one game, and 1 game doesn't matter. There is always the next game. THIS IS WHAT REAL LEADERSHIP LOOKS LIKE!

Also my favorite part was being asked about if they emphasized free throws in the offseason. Mason said very bluntly "yea" in a somewhat off put tone. The said "muss said we sucked" "told us our ranking in the country, and that didn't set well with us at all"

Jones also said, they love his consistency and want to practice and play harder every day. Definitely bought in.

When Eddie was coach, there was no shot clock, so we'd get a 4 point lead and just hold the ball for the final 15 minutes. It was a very different game.

But Sutton and Richardson both stressed great defense. We just haven't seen it in a while, so I think that's why it looks so impressive now.

Btw, I read somewhere today that Arkansas has been the 3rd best team against the spread this year.

I'd believe it. We've done nothing but destroy Vegas lines so far.

As he should have. We shot 66% from the line last year. Good for 314th in the nation.

We were scoring at a 77% clip from the line going into tonight and held serve at that pace going 20-26. It's early but that's massive improvement.

Sutton use to say to play all out on defense because you can rest on offense if you have good passing.

It wasn't some Willy nilly statement I threw out there. It's a fact. This team, this year is, so far, playing the best team defense ever seen at UofA.
That isn't a knock against Nolan or any sort of hyperbole.

The couple points on the game prep blew me away. Sounds like there is a ton of scout work they do in prep for every team, no matter how bad of a team they are. Then, the fact that the next opponent's lineup is already up in the locker room after they get done with the game shows there is a ton of planning going on with this coaching staff

We're talking about 3 games. And is PPG the only indicator of best team D?

Pump the brakes.

You’re right we should probably wait until we get our best interior defender next game.

I’d say this is fairly impressive considering it’s only one off-season the players had with Musselman along with having a rather small roster.

I'm not saying it's not impressive but that was a cherry picking statement.

It would be like saying after only giving up 230 yards to Portland St. this year we are on a history pace defensively.

No it wasn't. Good grief, man. Some of y'all will argue just to frickin argue. The statement was made to head off comparisons among our coaches. I said it isn't fair because so far they're out performing every defense we have ever seen from the Arkansas basketball team. All time.

Hell, I even said that it will change in time possibly/probably.

And no, it isn't just PPG. #1 in opponents 3 point shooting percentage. Near the top, if not at the top of overall field goal percentage allowed as well. The only category this team is likely to not be at the very top of the pile in is defensive rebounding.

Very high number of steals and even blocked shots to boot.

We have never seen a Razorbacks defense perform at this level so far.

Just frickin arguing to argue. Unbelievable.
