I was coached by him and the great Marion Glover at Camden. Two personalities that couldn’t be more different, although both could run you into the ground.

Since I left Arkansas apparently there has been a lot of new or jokes on Buck. Can somebody please catch me up on what’s happened with the perception of Buck over the past 15+ years? Preferably somebody other than Pio.

Conway is getting a good one!
quote:

Conway Public Schools District has named Coach Buck James as the lone finalist for head football coach. With over 30 years of coaching to his credit. He currently has 14 awards for Conference Coach of the Year, 13 Conference Championships, was named the Little Rock Touchdown Club Coach of the Year, is a Three-time Hooten’s Coach of the Year, the Lowell Manning award, the KATV/Red River Dodge Coach of the Year, the KATV/Coleman Dairy Coach of the Year and AAA Coach of the Year. Coach James has won 7 overall Championship titles with 5 Consecutive State Championships at the 7A classification, the highest division in the state, with 9 State Championship appearances overall and a 54-0 game in-state winning streak. Coach James stated, “Conway is the most attractive job in the state”!

Already starting off with a lie. Not a good look, Buck.

An argument can be made.

I’ve lived in and around Conway all my life, really good area with really good people (until the little rock/pine bluff crowd creep in). It’s one of the fastest growing for a reason. Their athletic director was my defensive coordinator at Greenbrier in high school, great guy.

Will say, if I didn’t live around here, I’d live in NW Arkansas. If the little rock/pine bluff crowd creep into this area much more, my new address will be in NW Arkansas.

Wonder how Buck James being named head coach will affect Colton Jackson and Gavin Santos being the offensive line coach’s at Conway

What do you think the Conway area is? Mostly Little Rock area people that crept in.

Yea the more they move in to get away from Little Rock, they dilute the quality product that attracted them to Conway in the first place. Basically causing it to become little rock jr.

Which in turn causes people from Conway to move to Greenbrier, Vilonia, etc. Which causes Greenbrier, Vilonia people to move to Clinton, Guy, Quitman, etc.

Myself and family have been in the real estate industry in this area since the 60’s, we’re seeing it happen first hand.

What is the deal with this anyway? Also, the guy is probably the second best coach in Arkansas High School football history.

Guy is a hypocrite. Denied a couple players, including the starting QB and Arkansas baseball commit, their state championship rings because they “quit” the team after the season was done and over but he and his coaches that left all got theirs.

It’s the equivalent of Texas turning more blue from people in California moving in.

Would be interesting to hear the full story and not just the spited mom’s perspective.

I always figured my HS alma mater’s great run would come to an end at some point but I didn’t figure it would be like this

That is the full story. Kid was hurt early season, came back and won MVP of the championship game, decided to quit football after the game, and Buck got his feelings hurt. I don’t give a shite what any coach says, the minute the clock hit zero of the championship game the 2022 season was over and any awards had already been earned.

I wonder if TJ Lindsey got his ring since he “quit” to go to IMG

Yeah. Try to keep an NFL player's Super Bowl ring who transfers to another team or quits the sport after the game. Good grief. What a bizarre policy.
