I'm not really defending Briles, but it's hard to be a good play caller when your QB can't hit anyone for shite.

4th and goal from the one. Original alignment has defense spread out and 5 on 5 in the box…then instead of just bringing the RB in and taking advantage of the numbers, we motion all WRs in created a massive amount of bodies in the box and running right up the middle.

How GD stupid is Briles?

Odom sucks too. The recruiting sucks and for the most part embarrassing.

But by all means let's take a moral victory lap.

I think the problem is two competing offensive philosophies. Pittman and Briles.

Pittman believes we can bully everyone in a phone booth. Briles wants to spread everyone out.

Briles and Odom will be gone after this year. Probably bring in Lunney, if he doesn’t get a G5 job.

Yea especially since he’s not responsible for recruiting or developing QBs or anything.

Or giving Fortin meaningful snaps in practice.

That’s all bad luck and misfortune. Not the 38 year old making 1.5M and taping his fingers on the sideline fault.

I think this is proof they aren’t on the same page. Briles wants to spread it out to open holes for a running back and Pittman wants to do the Bielema bully ball stuff.

frick, they have no clue who the #2 QB is.

Wasn't one of the knocks on Hornsby was his ability to complete a forward pass

Why are we asking for apples when we really want oranges

Do we know for certain that hornsby wasn't given first team reps?

I think we can safely say he didn’t get all of them, probably not even most of them, as evidenced by who started the game.

I just have a really hard time trusting the judgement of Briles, and maybe Pittman as well, if they picked Fortin over Hornsby.

I think we are seeing the results of Pittman trusting his coordinators to a fault. I think Briles picked Fortin, and Pittman says okay, if he’s your guy. I think Odom says we’ll rush 3, put no pressure on the QB, and try to clog the passing lanes with bodies, and Pittman says okay, if that your plan.

I think at some point Pittman has to say no, Hornsby is a better QB than Fortin, and gives us a better chance to win. He has to say no, we can’t sit back and let one of the best quarterbacks, and a certified passing game genius head coach, time to sit back and pick our shitty secondary apart.

Been saying this for 2 years. Briles calls a 20/20 offense.

He’s one of the worst playcallers in the red zone — especially inside the 5 — that I’ve ever seen.

We’ve had 5 or 6 drives this year inside opponents’ 5 yard lines where we’ve netted zero points.

Slants and touch passes, which is Briles bread and butter.

KJ and Hornsby can’t do either but they got a hella deep ball and can take off running if needed.

Maybe longer than 0 minutes and 0
Seconds. State scored on their first two drives

He fixed that after 1 series.

And what did our offense do between those two touchdowns? 6 plays for 5 yards, and a 25 yard punt, giving State the ball back at their own 45. If you’re playing defense, you got a drink, but didn’t have time to sit down, and you are back on the field essentially with State already breathing down your neck.

Well that’s not possible. He would have had to fix it last Saturday.

Fortin looked decent last week. Also I wouldn’t have risked Hornsby out there to get messed up and lose two QBs to Bama.

The D could have rested 24 hours between drives and the results would have been the same.

I’m talking about after the game, when planning for today’s game started.

Can’t dispute that, but it’s all the more reason that the offense has to find a way to get first downs, isn’t it?

And I'd be ok with that.

I miss having a QB go under center, play action pass, etc...

Brandon Allen was dynamite his last year in that style offense.

I'd even enjoy the ol' Petrino pistol formation at this point. He had a extremely balanced offense in 2010/2011.

This spread shite is all razzle dazzle gobbly asian.
