Davante Davis 4* CB out of Booker T. Washington gives a pledge to Texas.

Top 100 player Tim Irvin of Miami is also expected to commit to Texas.

Not a great 2nd day on the job for Randy.

All I see from that is that Texas has their pick of the litter from Texas and instead is going out of state to find defensive players.

There is a reason for this.

This is a good reason why Arkansas shouldn't put too much effort and resources into Texas recruiting.

I hope Jon Fagg takes UF and Shannon to court to get the full buyout money. They had an agreement before today, it was reported on before today, and is obviously a deal that was made before the buyout dropped significantly today.

I wouldn't let Shannon leave w/o getting every cent he owes us for not fulfilling his obligations.

that is ridiculous. employees are allowed to start looking around before the end of their contract.

if the only deal Shannon had with UF before today was oral, that's nothing. a gentleman's handshake ain't worth shite, legally speaking (barring reliance which i am sure has no bearing here).

also, it's extremely petty. the amount is minimal and not worth the loss of good will the university would receive in coaching circles. and that's not even getting into attorney fees (not sure if AR has a stipulation to pay attorney fees for breach of contract claims or if plaintiff).

if the dude wants to go, let him go.

I wonder if Roman is going to try and stay in the NFL.

Or he already has an agreement worked out with Arkansas.

Ahhhh, I don't think it's worth getting too pissy about. Pocket change for the University, and we knew we likely weren't going to have Shannon for many years anyway.

You know I was on top of this from the get go.

Joker, I'm over Shannon actually, I just like pointing certain things out for conversation sake.

We really need a solid replacement for Chaney that can recruit.
Even if we have to go out West.

Good ties in the South would be nice but not totally necessary.
Only need to have good chemistry with Bielema.
Time will tell if that's enough.

Really, I would take anyone over Chaney.
Out of left field doesn't bother me at all.
Meaningful hires are Bert's forte so I'm not worried about it.
Adding a recruiter would be nice too in this cutthroat business.
Now let's go get our man.

also, paging rev, paging rev

it's fun to speculate and all, but i'm wondering if there's any real reason to think chaney won't be retained.

Have heard nothing but rumors...

Asked a BOT member at the Texas Bowl, he said, "I believe we just need a few more skill position players and we will be fine"

we talked recruiting, Shannon (thought he was gone regardless) and future...

talked to a few former players as well. 3/4 like Chaney, one was adamant that he be gone

I'm not getting my hopes up. I think he would be gone already if it was actually going to happen.

Even the commentators during the bowl game hinted at it and why (I watched the recording last night Hogs won).

You got to have an ace in the hole.
