Not sure why people are surprised by this, he will get his evaluation and what to work on etc and return next year. This basically guarantees it as the portal closes in a week and he's not entering it. This has been part of the process for years.

Not to mention the issues with other players. It's not like he's a Lebron or Kobe coming out of high school. Pass. There's no one out there I can think of worth that much.

Yeah and Ament really just shot up the rankings the last ~year or so and a lot of people still think he's very raw with a lot of growing to do and may not be some huge instant impact game changing freshman.

That said, if we get him I'll still be excited.
We have a good roster around him already so we wouldn't need him to be the star. That number for NIL could be totally off too.

I think we get him if he had a clearer playing path. There is no way he plays over knox ot brazile.

I wouldn’t mind getting someone like Kamani Johnson who could come in and get some rebounds and clutch putbacks. Ament just looks too skinny right now to not be pushed around out there, like Baye Fall. But he may wind up being great, who knows.

But that was the plan for Joe and Jwill and both stayed in the draft.
