Shaka Smart is an out on the limb prediction. Nothing more.

I thought you wanted people to throw more names in the mix.

I did, thats why I added him. Just wanted to make it clear this wasn't one of my personal coaching lists. Just wanted a better way to look at a bunch of coaches at once. If nothing else, Smart provides more context to judge the other ones.

Not sure, he isn't on mine but Ed asked me to add him so I did

He's been mentioned in the local media, put on the graphics on the evening news lists, etc

The probably lifted it from here or another message boards

Well, I don't think its going to be possible to add a better coach for half but I'm not Beard or bust. I just think he is the best coach on my list. As I said earlier though, I wouldn't be upset about any of the top 5 coaches. Musselman would be at the bottom of the 5 though.

Beard makes 3.1 mil+/- at TTU Sampson 1.6 mil+/- At Houston, so yes it is possible...

If we hire him you guys will talk it up as a great hire when the truth is we won't know how great of a hire it is for a few years.

Look at Marshall, nobody is talking serious about him because his stock has fallen.

Alabama's last two hires were good or great on paper and they're looking for another coach.

We have to get a recruiter that can coach, not a coach that can recruit.

I have stated many times that I think Mike is an excellent coach but his recruiting lacks. If he had the players that we all thought he should have gotten and we weren't up against Adidas programs, he'd still be coaching.

You could make that argument about any of the candidates. None of us know exactly what is going to happen but we can make educated guesses. I'm not trying to pretend like we are going to win the NC if Beard is hired but I know based off of what I have seen and researched he is imo the best hire. Hell, I even agree that one negative is that he will probably always seek the Texas job. Even having said all of this. I think it is extremely unlikely he would accept our job anyway.

For some yeah because people simply look at this year but his stocked hasn't moved much at all for me. Even in his "rebuild" year, he has been tearing up the NIT.

And I have agreed for the most part, maybe not excellent but good for sure.

Who are your top 3 candidates?

I can't say that I have a top three because all that we've heard about are coaches that we know would be seeking a pay raise with the exception of Beard. He might or might not leave as he can have easier success in what might now be an inferior conference for similar pay.

Well we are all making guesses as well that come off of rumors but of the realistic options, who do you like?

If you had to rank Beard, Musselman, Marshall, Sampson and Buzz, what order do you like them in?

For me, Beard is 1 and Musselman is 5th. The others I struggle with to place in the middle. It changes with every hour for me.

It appears that Sampson won’t be available for “half the price” unless Beard would command $6 million

I'd say Sampson and Pitino (if even possible), regardless of age, and then there's a pretty large gap afterward.

After that, I'm not sold on Williams at all. Beard is an expensive risk. Everyone else is an unknown.

I don't want to fire Anderson, just to get someone that is another Anderson production wise, as in (once over the hump) getting to the tournament most of the time, but not all of the time and not getting top 5 seeds on a regular basis.

Why do you have Buzz so low? Just curious.

Just because he's kind of a goober or you lock him at A&M?

Dude what? You're talking about expensive risks?

WTF do you call that?

How does that dude explain himself in people's living rooms at this point?

He's got more baggage than Paris Hilton.
