Thank you RazorHawg for a good game thread there.

Letting someone with a fair to middling track record drag everyone else down, and letting them hang on because of the occasional slightly better performance
You're right. Not even comparable. Identical

Kenley started out awful his first year but has improved each year and hasn’t even gotten that much consistent playing time really to judge him yet. Even Benintendi wasn’t that good as a freshman.

Quick observations from the DH today:
1. Martin is Martin at the plate. Needs to get more comfortable at SS. I have faith it'll come in time through the course of the season.
2. HK is HK as well.
3. Dom proving once again why he's the top CF in the country.
4. Campbell still struggles pitching out of the stretch. Hopefully it was just the weather like someone mentioned.
5. Connor Noland will be major for us this year. He has great command and a nasty curve and slider. Lots of downward action on those.
6. Jack Kenley has greatly improved at the plate. He's seeing the ball very nicely at the plate. He got several walks along with his HR, 2B, and singles.
7. Ezell batting behind HK and Martin will have a lot of RBI's this season. The dude is clutch. I still question him defending at 1B though. There were a few moments today where I wished we had someone taller covering over there.
8. Nesbit does not play like a freshman. I know he's a redshirt, but the kid can hit and did pretty good at 3rd.
9. Franklin and Goodheart will be good for us as they get more comfortable.
10. Jordan McFarland looked nice as well. Hopefully he can see some more time at DH, but there is even good competition there as well.
11. Biggest question mark through the season will be at Catcher.
Overall, we made good contact at the plate. Some balls that would normally be HR's on the warmer days stayed in the park but made it to the warning track. The bottom half of the order looked good at the plate. I'm not worried about offense as it will only get better as the weather warms up and the season goes along. Relief pitching looks good so far. Once Ramage settled down he looked good. Burton had one good inning, then got rocked the next. The PBP guys made it sound like Vermillion will be the set up this season for Cronin. Hobbs seems to really like him. I'm curious to hear what the status of Scroggins is. I don't know if anything has been put out about him yet.

Scroggins has looked great in the scrimmages I’ve been too. Not sure what happened today. I’m sure he’ll be fine.

Arm tightned up on him according to Dave postgame when asked about it because his replacement had the injury length time for warming up.

OP updated through two games.

For anyone keeping track...the errors concern me, just like they did a season ago. Low and behold, an error or mis-reading of a foul ball is what kept us from winning the national title.

Martin is playing a new position. I'm pretty sure that DVH will continue to play with the lineup.
I'm in a wait and see mode about fielding issues. Very anxious to see what transpires in LA Thursday-Saturday. I'd be more than happy to go 2-1.
Impressive was no strikeouts in game 1 and the HR's from the newbies in very cold temps.

Big fan early on of Ezell
Need to get him off 1st base though. He's too short.

He’s only playing first temporarily because he had shoulder surgery in the off season

I know, we need his arm to get better.
