Nebraska needs a new coach, and Nate Thompson has been mentioned by D1.

quote:

Nate Thompson, Arkansas: One of the brightest young coaches in college baseball, Thompson has Midwest ties with some serious buzz surrounding his name. Thompson had a wealth of success as the hitting coach at Missouri State before moving down to Fayetteville to take over the Arkansas offense in 2018. Last season, the Hogs had one of the nation’s most potent offensive lineups. Then, this season, he engineered a lineup that many would argue is even better. Thompson is an excellent coach and recruiter and would bring strong pedigree and energy to the NU program.

The good thing is that after vitello, Johnson and Thompson, talented assistants would be lining up to coach for us

Yep. He was more "human" this year as well.

I like the early start times. The weather this weekend is not supposed to be co-operative. So there may be some delays.

Nate Thompson would be a solid get for Nebraska if they are looking for a good young coach. I love that our coaching staff is so good we have to worry about other schools hiring our assistants away but it would be nice to keep these guys as long as we can.

If he develops another pitch he could be a solid closer. Maybe not an all time immortal, but someone that could find a spot on a Major League roster.

All I heard on MS Sports radio today is how Ole Miss owns Arkansas. Yes, I know they’ve had recent success but damn. I no longer hope we win, I want to bury them in 2 straight games.

Sometimes one becomes a "prisoner of the moment" and that's what happened with me with Matt Goodheart one game. I really don't remember which game it was, at Hoover or at the Regional. We had runners on 1st and 2nd and Matt was asked to sacrifice, I suppose, but he never got took a single swing with 0 outs and two runners on. You can't do that. It's basically breaking a cardinal rule. That's what upset me. Anyway, we don't win this Regional unless #10 has a bat in his hand swinging it like a DH should.

We have not had a commit drafted yet.

2020 is the class we may lose a ton to the draft, we have 7 top 100 players compared to just 1 for 2019.

Our 2019 class was ranked #14 and our 5.45 average player rating wasn't even top 20.

This was posted on the other board but I thought I would share it here:

At the game a friend of mine was talking with the Central Conn AD. He said this was the greatest experience he has ever been a part of. They had been to one other regional and it was at TCU, he said it was horrible. He mentioned that he did not want to leave Arkansas. Great job to our fans. Below are a few examples I heard about their experience.

He said they had to go buy 5 dozen more baseballs (they brought 12) because his players kept handing them out to kids.
He said their players felt like rock stars because of all the love they got when they were not playing.

One of their players hit a home run and a young fan of ours gave him the ball. They later found him and gave the fan a signed ball and Central Conn gear

Their fans were calling the Hogs during the mound visits during their TCU game (This cracked me up)

Many CC fans would stop by and tailgate with our fans

Their whole team was in the Hog Pen cheering on the Hogs during the Sunday night game.

Great Job to all the Hog fans who were able to make it to the games, and for making Baum-Walker the special place that it is.
