Sigh, what could have been.
At least he'll never play for Kentucky.

Happily take WVU over UNC like another projection had

Dallas Baptist would be a pain if we get them.

Not really, MVC is beyond awful in years where Missouri State is bad. MSU is usually the team to take down an overrated DBU team every year but MSU is 13-30 this year and toast. I believe they were even ranked preseason.

Ouch. 13-30 is abysmal for a program like Missouri State.

DBU has beaten Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and TCU. Granted, all of them are mid-week games, but they are still no slouch.

Yes I know, I looked at their schedule as well. I give zero credence to mid week when it's shite conference team vs team in middle of a power 5 schedule. They also lost to OU, OSU, and Baylor twice.
Lost 2 of 3 to a meh Houston team, lost to UT-Arlington, lost 2 of 3 to a bad Evansville team.
They lost almost all of the Friday night games against a teams 1 decent pitcher to Illinois State/Bradley/Evansville/College of Charleston.

quote:
Rutledge tweaked his hip early in February and never felt quite right during his freshman season. Before a series against Alabama in March, the pain flared up, but Rutledge wanted to play through it. “I used to call him one-track because he just had this one-track mind,” John said. “He didn’t want to shut it down and we didn’t know how bad the hip was.”
Rutledge threw just 11 pitches in a Sunday game against Alabama—walking the only two batters he saw. Shortly after that, Rutledge went to see an orthopedist, who told him he had a torn hip labrum. His season was done.
Now armed with four distinct pitches, Rutledge was ready to get back on the mound. But his time at Arkansas was over. After his injury, he wanted to be more cautious and stay healthy. He decided going to San Jacinto (Texas) JC was the right route for 2019.
Rutledge is throwing his fastball in the upper 90s and holding that velocity deep into his outings. His walks are down, and some scouts even go as far as projecting all four of his pitches—including his newly developed slider—as plus. Through 11 starts he had recorded a 1.02 ERA with 116 strikeouts in 70. 2 innings.
With fewer than two months before the 2019 draft, Rutledge is about to see all of that attention to detail and curiosity on and off the field pay off. He ranks in the middle of the first round on BA’s most recent draft ranking. He has a chance to be the highest-drafted junior college pitcher this century, a distinction that currently belongs to righthander Phil Bickford, whom the Giants took 18th overall in 2015.

It was more of the parents getting in the way than anything. Same with Bonnin.

I overreacted but every time I think of him and what could have been it pisses me off. If he’s on staff we win the cws easily

Oh most definitely. I wish parents would stay out of the way and let the professionals do their job.

I don't quite know how to replay to this. From where I sit, concerning parents period overall, I wish more parents would get involved in their kids lives and truly be what parents should be.

Rev. I understand, but when your kid is in college, the step before the big leagues, I'm sure the professionals will know more what to do than the parent. DVH and Wes Johnson wouldn't do anything to risk the player's health.
I could understand if it was say OSU and Pat Casey seeing as how they completely ruined the arm of Kevin Abel, but DVH and crew are completely the opposite. They are being extra cautious with Scroggins even though he could have pitched last week.

Being involved and making decisions for them because the parents are upset - two different things.

here's the little girl that got hit by Casey's Martin foul ball during the Grambling game. Looks like Casey Martin gave her an autographed ball.

I love DVH and think he’s great but he could take some of the blame for Rutledge leaving. I can’t comment on if the parents were a pain or not.
Not always the players fault when they transfer or that their quitters.

My foul ball story: Took my wife and daughter to their first game at Baum on Sunday and we got there early for warmups. We walked in and are standing near the top entrance left field and I hear a bump nearby, look up and a ball rolls direcly over to my feet and I picked it up and hand it to my 3 year old daughter. She smiled and carried it the whole game and showed it off all day at the Stadium
