Arkansas lost its top commitment for the Class of 2024 just minutes before kickoff at Florida on Saturday when four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield announced he was reopening his recruitment. Crutchfield, the nation's No. 56 overall prospect and the state's top player in this year's cycle, initially committed to the Razorbacks on April 21.

"After thorough thinking and praying . [sic] I have decided to re-open my recruitment and de-commit from the University of Arkansas," Crutchfield said on X. "You get one recruitment process and I want to take the time to carefully consider all of my options without restriction. I have the upmost [sic] respect for the Arkansas staff and appreciate them for everything. I have been blessed with several opportunities to play football and continue my education at some great universities. I hope that everyone will respect my decision as I do what is best for me and my family."

With the loss of Crutchfield, Arkansas goes from 235.91 points and 20th in the recruiting rankings to 228.59 and 24th nationally. Additionally, the loss puts the Hogs behind Ole Miss and Kentucky to 13th out of 16 SEC teams.

The Arkansas 2024 recruiting class took a hit on Saturday as four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield decommitted from the Razorbacks.

A Pine Bluff, Crutchfield native made the announcement on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

The four-star's recruitment was closely tied to fellow four-star Charleston Collins. Crutchfield holds offers from LSU, Auburn, TCU, and many others.

Crutchfield had initially committed to the Hogs on April 21. He's taken multiple visits to high-level schools, so his options are plenty for where he will play college football.

With Crutchfield's decision, the Hogs now have 18 total commitments in the class of 2024.

Pine Bluff (Ark.) four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield has decommitted from Arkansas. He was pledged to the Razorbacks since April 21.

Crutchfield is the No. 114 overall prospect and No. 21 wideout in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“After thorough thinking and praying, I have decided to re-open my recruitment and decommit from the University of Arkansas,” Crutchfield wrote. “You get one recruitment process and I want to take the time to carefully consider all of my options without restriction. Crutchfield isn’t that impressive. I’ve watched him multiple times. He has a ceiling as high as the clouds but I’m not sure he has the work ethic to be great .

Crutchfield is likely going to Mizzou, according to Hognonymous.

Says he isn't going to LSU. Once Mizzou lost Wingo, they threw a bag at Crutchfield.

Rumor is also that Collins is about to decommit, too and may be headed to Mizzou as well. Either there or LSU.

Sam is getting his arse kicked in the NIL front.

If we’re losing nil battles to mizzou it maybe time to just stop caring about arkansas football

If we’re losing NIL battles, that’s not Sam’s fault.

Would a better coach be attracted to the UofA knowing he’d lose the same NIL battles

That’s going to be super embarrassing if we lose an in-state kid we actually wanted to Mizzou but it’s hard to argue what they’ve done with Burden versus what we’ve done this year post Briles.

Rumors have arisen that the real $$ won't open up the spouts with Sam as HC b/c they don't belive he is a good investment.

In saying that, however, it is clear that it has not affected Muss and the bball program. But he and Sam are also polar opposites in their entire approach to just about everything.

What is clear though is that you better get used to losing NIL battles to Missouri, Ole Miss, and the like in football b/c they clearly have made it a priority and Arkansas has not.

Perhaps in football.. In Baseball and Basketball we are very competitive.

I wonder what Pittman would accomplish with a better OC (GUyton?) and a decent nil bag?

who gives a frick? We’re competitive because nobody else cares. How many people are dumping money into college baseball nil? Football is what matters, PERIOD.

You asked... I give a frick. I love our Baseball and Basketball successes.

And evidently those with huge amounts of money do as well.

Dude, I can enjoy those things, among other things without being dragged down by the One...

You play "what if" constantly about the OC, and HC hires... I play "what if" by wondering what would happen with a great NIL program for football like we do the other two!

You misunderstand I care as well. But what I mean is other schools don’t put money into those nil programs, because other schools don’t care. We’re competitive in baseball nil because outside of us, the Mississippi schools , lsu and maybe a couple other schools nobody really cares about college baseball. Even half the schools that are good at college baseball don’t really care about it. So there’s less of a market and we’re competitive because you don’t need as much money to be competitive. Now basketball is way more competitive than baseball but still nothing close to the football nil space. Again, I don’t mean people don’t care. I mean to most universities and their alumni football is what matters when it comes to nil. And it seems our big money boosters are afraid to compete in that space

We’re in agreement about nil. If we had a great football nil program we would be fine

Yes, Miss State, OM, Florida, Vandy, and a few outside of the SEC have good Baseball Nils.

But we are definitely competing in basketball with the big time programs overall. Other than we aren't giving a million like long time bluebloods did this season, lol.

We have never taken football seriously though. Petrino was Hated by many of the upper level donators, and bot members. He was such a prick to them, to anybody. I have real life stories.. but anyway.

They would rather have a amiable coach, than a hard driven winner. Finding both isn't easy. It sucks. But... at least we have Muss!

Well, the other issue is football simply has a lot more players to provide for. A mil in basketball can get you a lot further with building a few players for your team but two players in football essentially does nothing

that too. It’s easier for our cheapskate boosters to say they’re focusing on other sports and to say, “look how good we compete with NIL in basketball!” When they know in reality all they’re doing is pinching Pennies

Ole Miss, the university and their collective, are seemingly all on the same page and promote the shite out of giving $$ to NIL. There are signs on the bathroom walls at the stadium and Kiff is open about basically telling everyone to pony up.

At Arkansas, nobody even seems to know the phrase at all. Hell, their appointed NIL VP at UofA left and went to Miss State b/c their program is better. What does that say?
