Sorry if I missed it but what’s up with Ebony Jackson? Him and the Clemson dl are only loose ends left out there right?
I can only speculate from a few posts further up in this thread but there seems to have been a issue with some disturbing tweets he sent out right after committing to the Hogs. That and questions around his injury might be the reason he didn't sign the LOI yesterday.

Saw where former RB commit John Gentry didn't make it academically to Utah so he ended up signing with Utah State. Was disappointed when he decommitted but might have not necessarily been a bad thing

So with Crawford going JUCO and this Chard was out here taking grade risks

This is what wins ball games.

So many needs have been addressed across the board, and focusing on defense and offensive linemen was a must.

I'm really looking forward to football season more now than in a very long time.

Seriously, the fact they signed 7 linebackers is amazing. We should sign 5-7 every year and weed out the ones out don't work out until we have depth. It's like they understand what we need

It really sucks that no one will set the record straight about just how bad Chad was. Not just on the field, but also how bad he was tanking recruiting this year. For some reason it is "bad taste" to lay the facts out there for all to see just how bad of a job Auburn's OC was doing before he was fired.

Meanwhile there have been sob stories on ESPN and 247 about Chad and his son's recruiting, how after being fired he encouraged his son to not come to Auburn in case things went south for him there, how they were caught off guard having looked into no other options than Arkansas, etc.

Its amazing with the amount of money these coaches are paid to be fired that you can't lay out facts that may put their job performance in a worst light but a better light for the employer who fired them because it is in "bad taste" and may "damage" their careers.

Al Davis had it correct in his comments post firing of Kiffins.

Bert proved that Arkansas could recruit LBs which was the biggest glaring weakness of the Nutt-Petrino years.

Chad showed that Arkansas could pull away talent in Tennessee.

We already knew we could win our fair share of battles in Bama, Georgia, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Florida. But Texas.

Danny dropped a couple of good nuggets in his post signing day chat. He said a couple of people in the program told him this time last year that the program was sinking. He didn’t believe them at the time because it looked good on the outside to Danny but it turns out they were right.

Nuggets on message boards are one thing, just enough were dropped leading up to the firing to "ease the blow" to the fanbase. I'd rather Danny post up an article that causes an alert to be pushed on my phone via ESPN since Arkansas will be tagged like I've had on 2 separate occasions about just how sad the Morris situation has been leading up to signing day.

He was going to get to play for his dad and start for 4 years at an SEC team and now no more boo hoo.

Hunter should be busting out a power point presentation laying out all the fact just why the coach is being fired. With bullet points, on timed slides, I want him to rehearse and be in sync to what is being projected behind him. They way the buyouts are written you're likely to be fricked anyway, so scorched earth on coaches like Chad. You fire a coach simply because he wasn't winning enough and you disagree with his way of running the the program? Fine put the presentation out there, own your decision as the AD.

A bit of a summary as I looked back at our old 2020 thread and we basically recruited two entire different classes in 2020.

In July-September our recruiting class rankings were in the 25-32 range.

quote:

WR Ze'Vian Capers - Auburn (decommitted in June)
OT Ty'kieast Crawford - JUCO was never going to qualify
LB Martavius French - Tennessee
QB Chandler Morris - Oklahoma
WR/RET Kelvontay Dixon - Texas
WR Savion Williams - TCU
RB John Gentry - Utah State
CB Jamie Vance - Louisville
TE Allen Horace - UTSA
WR Mason Mangum - California
TE Brandon Frazier - Auburn
LB Drew Francis - Middle Tennessee State
DE Tyrece Edwards - Middle Tennessee State

quote:

Top Targets back in September
LB Bryson Eason - Tennessee
DT Omari Thomas - Tennessee
WR Darin Turner - Arkansas
OL Garrett Hayes - TCU
CB Dwight McGlothern - LSU
WR Alex Adams - LSU
OL Brady Ward - Ole Miss grayshirt
S Mike Harris - Baylor

Vance started the decommits in late September, Crawford in mid-October and French day after his OV in late October. Baylor signee Mike Harris' commitment and Brady Ward OV (who grayshirted to Ole Miss) and near commitment were the last ditch recruiting effort before Chad was fired.

Savion Williams, John Gentry, Mason Mangum all decommitted a day after the firing. Allen Horace, Kelvontay Dixon two days after. Brandon Frazier, Chandler Morris three days after and Darin Turner the following day.

Pittman inherited the #118 composite recruiting class on December 8th.

quote:

DE Blayne Toll
DE Jashaud Stewart
DE Catrell Wallace
LB Drew Francis
S Mike Harris
DE Tyrece Edwards

Pittman visited Arkansans the first two days. His first official visit weekend, the only one before ESP included Myles Slusher, Darin Turner, Marcus Henderson and Ray Curry.

ESP signing class
quote:

RB Dominique Johnson flipped from Mizzou
LB Kelin Burrle - EE
DE Blayne Toll - EE
DE Jashaud Stewart
DE Catrell Wallace
OL Ray Curry
S Myles Slusher flipped from Oregon - EE
WR Darin Turner - EE
JUCO DE Julius Coates - EE

After ESP the two Chavis commits (LB Drew Francis and DE Tyrece Edwards) and Mike Harris announced decommitments as Pittman's staff didn't pursue any of them instead targeting others for the early signing period.

quote:

DE Jaqualin McGhee
DB Nick Turner
LB JT Towers
Grad Transfer CB Jerry Jacobs from Arkansas State
LB Jacorrei Turner
LB Eric Thomas
CB Khari Johnson
Grad Transfer QB Feleipe Franks from Florida
RB Ebony Jackson
DL Andy Boykin
Grad Transfer LB Levi Draper from Oklahoma
TE Collin Sutherland
OL Marcus Henderson
OL Jalen St. John
QB Malik Hornsby
Grad Transfer K AJ Reed from Duke
Grad Transfer DT Xavier Kelly from Clemson

Nothing definitive at this time, rumors and speculation for both positions.

Derek LaBlanc was talking about him in the recent staff interviews. As of now, it sounds like he will be at DE, but you never know once they get on the field.

Something to possibly watch-

Fernando Velasco is our assistant director of player development. Have heard he might be heading over y'all's way. It's a behind the scenes position, but it's one of those that's been big in our success in recruiting.

Velasco is a UGA alum and was an offensive lineman in the NFL. In his mid 30's and recruits/players really love this guy. Several responsibilities go along with that gig, but being a "big brother" and always being available to these kids is big to a program imo.

Our director of player development, Jonas Jennings, has been the biggest asset, besides the on-field coaches and S&C guys (Ellis & Walker included) imo.
For example- When we've been down a coach and need someone on the road recruiting, it's usually Jonas that steps in and goes out. He was vital in landing Broderick Jones.

Also, Jesse Stone was a great hire. Was a big help with Fromm while he was in Athens.

TL;DR- Pittman seems to be doing all the right things. Excited to watch what he's doing over that way and how it progresses in the years to come.

I think it says a lot about Pittman vs chad and Bret that you seem to never seem to hear a negative thing about Pitt from any of his former stops
