Problem is that FSU seems a more logical place for Kiffin to be.

It isn't Gus.

If FSU wants Lane, and you have to think he's hanging around the top of their list, then we won't get him. They are one of the few schools that can match us in money (even with us being a bit thin pocketed at the moment we can still splash some cash), they have more fertile recruiting grounds, and at FSU you are probably looking at 2 or 3 tough games a year. Get past those and you are in the CFP. At Arkansas we are likely to have 3 or 4 tough games without even leaving the SEC West.

Hell, some years every damn game on the schedule is tough here. The SEC West, even being a bit down at the moment cuz Saban, is a ridiculously tough division to play in. Nearly every team in this division has been ranked in the top 5 at some point over the last 10 years.

I don't think Gus is trying to leverage AU for more money.

I could see him making demands, more money just aren't likely to be at the top of the list.

Mike Irwin tweet:

Media sources go silent on Sunday mornings in Arkansas. This is the bible belt. Church comes first. The coach search chatter should pick up again around 1:30 pm. #gottagive'emtimetoeat??

Max over at ARk times seems to think we "might be" looking elsewhere. He's been as plugged in as anyone.

I just don’t get why they make this so complicated. You want someone that considers this a dream job. Gus says no so immediately offer the job to Norvell. Problem solved. Stop overthinking it higher ups.

Gus beat Bama and played in the SEC championship, why would he leave knowing he could be #1 again in the west next year?

I would be good with Norvell or Lane.

Probably cause Gus is letting them know he is interested just wants more time for obvious reasons on his end.

I agree with you though.

I just can't imagine paying Gus $7+ million/year. That puts him with the most elite coaches as far as pay goes. Is Gus in the same league as Saban, Harbaugh, Meyer? Hell naw...

You do realize Gus has two National Championship rings right? Don’t let your hate for the guy blind you from the truth. He’s among the elite.

In the last 10 years as OC or HC
2006- SEC West Champs
07-08 - One is the best offenses in the country
2010- ESPN Best Recruiter, SEC Wes Champs, SEC Champs, National Champs
2012 - Sun Belt Champs
2013 - SEC West Champs. SEC Champs, National Champs.
2017 - SEC West Champs.

Most victories over Alabama than any other active coach.

Please, Again, tell me how he is a lower level coach. The guy is a top 5 coach
