That is all. He was my number 1 then and still would be now for what it's gonna take to compete here year after year.

100% agree. Kiffin was the home run hire back then. Contrary to popular belief, I bet he stays at Ole Miss for the long haul. With the playoff expanding, he has no reason to leave, at this point, for a job not named Alabama or Georgia.

Meh, he’ll leave Ole Miss high and dry as soon as a more prestigious university comes calling. I also think he would be our coach right now if he hadn’t dicked Yurachek around. No doubt he’s a good coach, but I think he still puts himself ahead of the team, the program, and the state.

He’d take the Florida job so fast they’d call him the Mississippi flash. LSU as well. Probably Florida State too.

I was the biggest anti-Kiffin guy on here a few years ago, and for good reason.

His tenure at USC at the end was a disaster, and his players were openly fighting each other in the locker room at the Sun Bowl in 2012. He drew Saban’s ire constantly and got unceremoniously fired at Alabama for how he handled the coaching transition to FAU. He spends more time on Twitter than some influencers.

That said, his time at Ole Miss has been impressive. He won 10 games last year and will again this year with a different QB. He made good coordinator hires in Durkin and Lebby, and his new DC looks to be solid. His team plays hard and physical. I envy them.

Kiffin is a lot like Petrino in that he brings expertise on offense and is essentially his own OC. His tenure here probably would’ve been like Petrino — lots of fun and winning with an abrupt ending with a sex scandal involving a blonde.

I’m not out on Pittman yet. I do have reservations because we’re losing some games we shouldn’t and still seem to have some Bert and Chad stank on our program. Time will tell, but I’d be wrong if I said I saw this coming with Kiffin at Ole Miss.

Kiffin earned most of his reputation for being flaky before the age of 40. Petrino is over 60 and is still self-sabotaging. The other difference is that Kiffin is a seemingly nice guy. Petrino is a jerk.

And regarding social media, it’s not Kiffin’s fault that he can put up 40 points while working 40 hours. Mike Leach is the same way.

I’ll pass.

Look…we had to hire someone to bring stability to the program and bring respect back. We’ve done that. While we haven’t finished in the top 10, Pittman has had our program ranked back in the top 10, two years in a row.

We still have Morris holdovers on the field. We just came off a 9 win season after going through an 0’fer two year SEC stretch just not long ago. I think expectations jump up too damn high sometimes and we forget the entire program was a complete rebuild. There’s going to be bumps along the way. For me, Pittman is the perfect guy to keep us stable and get us back to respectability. He isn’t a long term national title contending coach…but he is what we needed and as far as I am concerned, he gets the chance to lose his job on his own terms.

Agreed.

Pittman was right for what we needed at the time. This team had to be completely rebuilt physically and mentally.

Kiffin’s predecessor at Ole Miss was an alum who gave a damn and didn’t crater their program like Morris did to us. Luke gave a shite and at least had their roster in decent shape.

Meanwhile, we had no QB and a bunch of 260 lb offensive linemen, none of whom had won an SEC game since Trump’s first year in office.

Kiffin wouldn’t have been a bad hire, but he certainly wouldn’t be having the success here he’s having at Ole Miss given the shitshow that was our program in December 2019.

I was Kiffin guy. I believe he would have left us as quickly as he did Tennessee had a job he wanted came open.

I thought with Sam the worst thing we would get is 4-5 years of someone who actually recruited good kids for the next coach to make something out of.

I think Sam was the better hire for what we needed after watching both. Kiffin inherited an elite QB. He’s a good coach, but he hasn’t had the schedule Sam inherited. I’m anxious to see how Ole Miss navigates the back end of their schedule.

You realize we’re probably about to lose 4 straight right? Do you see 4 more wins on the schedule?

How would a losing record make you feel after year 3?

That being said, Kiffin was never coming here and likely delivers similar and bails. We’re a program that everyone but us knows stinks. We’re basically Aggie light without the ultra weird traditions. His arrogance wouldn’t work well here.

Ole Miss is a way better job for someone like him. Co-Ed situation, culturally, recruiting and expectations to win.

I disagree. He was interested but was told he was too immature or something to that effect.

I thought it was pretty much a confirmed rumor that he and Yurachek had a deal, but then Ole Miss made an offer that Yurachek wouldn’t match, expecting Kiffin to stick to their deal?

I know one thing, after hearing Poole and Sanders earlier... Yeah, I am solidly looking forward to what Pittman does the rest of the season with what he has available.

He has the right focus, that is for sure. Unlike Bert, Chard, and Nuttz. HDN was a middle to good HC overall... But not good enough and an ego the size of Texas.

Pittman is down to earth and trying to right a ship that was completely rudderless for so dang long

His “Wittle Wayne Kiffin” nickname for him is extremely cringe. Yet he keeps saying it on his show.

You know it has the double digit IQ’d boomers on Hogville belly laughing, but it’s dumb and not really funny.

I don’t really listen to any Arkansas media, and that’s kind of why I quit. Everyone is cringe as shite. But that sells because half this fan base if you look at any FB group or forum, are mouth breathers.

well there you go. How about just doing his job and telling the truth of what was happening. Nah, he's got to be a pawn on the board for his handlers

Same situation in general with Petrino. Who went after him right after the "bike wreck"? Arkansas media dweebs who were foaming at the mouth because Petrino had hurt their feelings a few times. So they did the FOI. We couldn't do like Florida and Urban and just cover it up, because that's what real programs do, we had to do shite to make the money people happy.
