With Hawaii playing no help defense where its just 1v1 all game, if Acuff can beat his man he may score 60.

Arkansas opened at -15.5 and i'd bet it is worse than 15 points if we can make shots.

Ewin/Pringle just need to pull their man out, and let Acuff, BGoat, Leek, and DJ go to the basket every time down the court.

I honestly think this could be one of those games for DJ where he goes off just driving to the basket. I doubt many on Hawaii's team can keep up with him.

Isaac Johnson is the only guy we need to worry about, their 7ft center. Was the #70 recruit in 2019 and went to Oregon. Averages over 14ppg but last few games 22, 20, 19, 16. He's also like Brazile in that he is a good 3PT shooter making 2-3 game. Don't need him popping off for 25-30 like we've struggled with.

Based on my limited understanding of the no help defense, what it is intended to do, and where it is susceptible it appears to play into the strengths of this team.

The dreaded Fanta curse.

Last time he picked us to be a Final 4 team was right as Muss started his last year.

I know everyone is hyped on Acuff right now, for good reason, but if Hawaii plays us 1v1 across the board, Thomas has a great chance to go off.

Not only do they play 1v1 but they go under screens. Best case scenario for us is if they do that consistently and Maleek shoots 8-10 3s in the first half (and makes most of them). Then we can suck the air out of the ball in the 2H and try not to get our legs too tired.

If we don’t make shots… then we have to grind out as much as we can before a potential MAJOR matchup with Wisconsin. It’s such a shame that potential matchup is in the R32.

It’s the tourney, anything can happen.

Against scrubs, hard to put much stock in any defensive numbers. They just gave up 9 threes on 50% shooting in their loss at home 10 days ago to a 9 win Long Beach State squad.
