Heads up base running by Bolton (Feral's boy)

Overslides 2nd when he's safe by a mile and gets tagged out, and Josenberger sends the very next pitch into the seats for what should have been a 2 run homer.

Can’t make this stuff up.

Great job by the bullpen. They gave up 1 run in 11.2 innings

A struggling UGA next too.

Granted they took the first game at UF then lost next 2.

Always nice to get a sweep, even if it’s against a cupcake SEC cellar dweller.

Did tony learn anything about coaching an infield while he was here?

We were given some great gifts this weekend.

Tennessee came into the weekend desperately needing some positive momentum. Really felt like a dagger for their season. I sure hope so, frick those guys.

Their infield was total arse this weekend.

In every game they just kept booting the ball and making dumb mistakes. The double move pickoff attempt that scored Bolton on the errant throw last night was something a 9U baseball team would try and ultimately screw up, and then the play today where an infield popup allows Bolton to tag and take 3rd because no one is covering is another in a long line of infield dumbassery.

I’ve said this before, but Tony Vitello reminds me so much of Lane Kiffin. Both are front runners of the highest order when everything’s working great, and both turn into sullen, pouty bitches at the slightest sign of adversity.

The announcers talked about Dave working on double plays before the game today and it paid off. Dave does more than I realize before and during games.

He schooled vitello this weekend.

Remember how a few weeks ago several (Myself included) were crabbing about our team.

And now leading the West by 1.5 games.

Yeah, that DVH feller is pretty good afterall. It amazes me that he gets teams into form like this with so many injuries.

Looking forward to some returners too!

Vitello really did a jackshit coaching job this weekend.

He consistently left pitchers in when it was obvious they didn't have it -- most notably Sewell last night when he hit 4 batters with a pitch and allowed Bolton to score on the throwing error -- and just seemed like an empty calories coach standing there quietly and dispassionately.

DVH really did go full Obi-Wan maiming Darth Vader on Vitello this weekend.

Loved to see all the SB, it was obvious that was something we scouted and DVH saw an opportunity. Absolutely coached circles around Vitello this weekend. You love to see it.

Yeah, their pitchers were pitching from the windup with runners on and really slow to the plate, and we definitely exploited it and ultimately manufactured some runs because of it.

We had 9 (!) stolen bases this weekend, and 5 alone on Saturday. We actually had 10 for the weekend if you count Bolton yesterday who was safe by a mile but overslid 2nd and got tagged coming off.

Was it you that said Vitello is the Lane Kiffin of College Baseball? Cocky and in control as long as he's winning but he falls apart when things don't go his way.

I don't have near the expertise that some do on this board and even I could tell he was leaving pitchers in there that had no business still being on the mound.

Yep! Been saying it since the last year’s Supers.

Both are front-runners of the highest order — cocky douchebags when they’re winning, but at the first sign of adversity they turn into pouty, sullen bitches.

One of my favorite DVH stories is one that he and Andrew Benintendi both tell, and Benintendi has said changed his baseball career. In his freshman or sophomore season we were down like 8 or 9 runs in the 8th and Benintendi hits a solo homer and proceeds to admire it, do a bat flip, and slow trot around the bases. After the game DVH called him out in front of the team, something to the effect of “hey Andrew, you wanna flip a bat and watch your shot when we’re down 8 runs? bullshite. How about you hit one when it actually matters?” From then on he didn’t do it again and started hitting at a incredible clip. Incredible leadership.

Didn't get to catch any of the games this weekend but got the stewhog highlights. Not a whole lot to complain about in a sweep like that. At this point we know where the holes are and the pitching continues to make strides.

Cali's also doing enough at the plate now where the wishy-washy defense on the corner is less of an issue, particularly considering Jones can't seem to grasp the spot when given the few chances he's had.

We REALLY need Wegner healthy. I love Diggs but he's useless outside of the batter's box.

I still can't shake the nervousness about what we'll look like in a tournament setting, but there's no room for disappointment with the results and where we currently sit. Really proud of the young arms that have shaped up in such a short amount of time. Foutch, Carter, and Wood have impressed me.

*As a sidenote I'd like to say this is one of the smartest teams on the bases we've ever had. Extremely heady baserunning to take advantage of lazy defense quite a few times this year. I can remember a goof or two but I'm pretty sure they were one person. For the most part we've been good about stretching every play for the max gain.

Cali actually looked *really* good in the field this weekend, and made a number of great plays and turned a few 5-4-3 DP’s. Oddly enough, he had arguably the best showing defensively of anyone in the lineup across all three games.

We were reliant on offense earlier in the season while pitching and defense were woeful. Conversely, pitching and defense have been pretty good the last two weekends, especially this past weekend against Tennessee.
