Jesus, Diggs, swing the bat. Strikes out looking on 5 pitches, all of which caught the zone. Ball 2 should’ve been strike 3.

He’s just not seeing the ball well at all this weekend.

I kind of liked that opener last night.
Agree. It's a smart way to make sure you get someone work in a controlled setting. If you say "we'll get you in for relief at some point" you could chicken out due to the context of the specific moment. Or you could press and put the kid in a sub-optimal situation.

Slavens comes up with runners at 2nd and 3rd and 1 out and just strikes out flailing wildly at 3 pitches.

At this point we need to start pinch hitting for Slavens with RISP because he presses badly in those situations.

Bolton gets a 9U travel ball run.

Bunt single.
Takes 2nd on an errant pick throw by the pitcher.
Takes 3rd on a wild pitch.
Scores on a sac fly.

I’ll take it!

Thank goodness for Cali's emergence as a reliable hitter. We'd be in so much trouble without Wegner and Josenberger if he hadn't stepped up. Don't get me wrong, the lineup IS a big issue without them but it would be BAD if not for Cali's massive improvement.

Absolutely.

Cali, Ibuprofen, and Diggs are carrying this team right now.

Cali has emerged as arguably the best hitter in conference games on the team, which is an incredible turnaround from where he was early in the season. He’s become an on-base machine and is always a threat to hit one out.

Ibuprofen is not only a great hitter, but he’s played every position in the outfield due to injury and has stood in for Josenberger in CF quite well.

Morris being a factor going forward would be so sweet. I’m not counting on it but I’m encouraged that DVH is starting to go back to him. Nothing against Dylan Carter but going into the postseason with him being “our guy” for 3-4 innings each weekend scares me bigly.

DVH and Hobbs need to be careful.

8-0 just turned into 8-2, and the Aggies have the bases loaded against Foutch, who’s collapsed over the last few weeks.

Foutch simply can’t find the zone and is having control issues.

Edit: and as I posted that, Foutch plunks a batter to bring in another run. 8-3 now.

Luckily Bybee comes in and gets a strikeout to end the Aggie rally.

Not sure 5 run lead is enough. Getting the next 9 outs is going to be an adventure.

Yep.

Last week showed that a 4+ run lead isn’t safe with this bullpen.

So are we going to start seeing if Wood can close twice a weekend or move him to starter/long reliever. Surely his usage is due to increase.

Jesus, this bullpen sucks.

8-5 now.

Our bats need to wake back up because this pen isn’t holding a 3 run lead over 6 outs.
