In regard to other recent comments, I get the feeling that Muss coaches like he's in the NBA. I'm not going to say that's a bad thing, but there used to be a belief that NBA coaches don't make good college coaches, unless they're willing to change their methods. Muss is clearly a good coach, but I think his approach might explain some of his problems at this level.
It seems like he just recruits the best players he can find and then tries to coach them like a G-League team. I'm not sure how well that works with players right out of high school.

quote:That's not even true, though. This team has shooters, he just won't play them. It's like if Nolan had just let Dillard rot on the bench.
This team doesn’t,
I'm still all about the Muss Bus but he's been really weird with this roster.

Hes said as much all season though. It's never felt like he had the roster figured out. It's hard to know what we would look like though if 2/5 of our starting rotation wasn't out most of the season.

quote:This is why I'm not hard on Muss about this year. Some could say him stating that Brazile and NSJ were what the offense was built around is a cop out, but imagining our Maui matchups minus Brazile is not a pleasing thought exercise. Take away all of the times Brazile was there to stretch the floor to give Ricky more driving room or knock down a huge trailing 3 at the top of the arc and we're only beating Louisville. That's not even taking into account his inside presence defensively, though we've been able to reproduce that with the twins somewhat.

This season just fricking sucks.

I think it was pretty obvious that Muss was going to use Brazile as an outside shooting threat. I was shocked how smooth his outside stroke was. I have no idea if NSJ can shoot but if so there’s your two shooters. Again, not sure what else he’s supposed to do. Just b/c Pinion is white doesn’t mean he’s a legit outside shooting threat. I still can’t get the three off the side of the backboard that would’ve worn the Mizzou game out of my head

Pinion: 37%
Black: 31%
Council: 27%
Devo: 33%
NSJ: 29%
Walsh: 28%

quote:How is that his fault? He comes in and hits 3's at a higher clip than anyone on the team and gets benched.
Do attempts next
Your take is weird.

I’m sorry you don’t understand sample sizes

So the sample size is large enough to say he's not a legit outside threat, but it isn't enough to say he is.
Alright, Lat.
Alright, Lat.

That would have tied it. And he had just come in the game about 20 seconds before that. And it was the Baylor game.

Everyone loves the hometown white boy shooter! I’m not saying he’s a bad shooter I’m just saying he’s not the savior some of you make him out to be. I actually think he has a pretty good all around game but he’s not the difference in this team being better than they are right now. Sorry.

Oh whatever, had yellow on the brain.

quote:Who said he's a savior? He's only brought up when talking our lack of shooters because he is one. I don't think I've seen anyone say anything other than his getting more playtime would add a better deep threat than we currently have on the floor, (which is objectively true) which could potentially help space things out on offense. If only to just try something different because obviously what we're doing isn't working.

Weird fixation on his race, though.

Funny how no one is screaming for dunning or ford to get more run.
Wonder why Pinion?

quote:Again, not even true. I know for a fact multiple people have asked why they aren't seeing the floor and just assume they aren't ready.

Meanwhile, we've actually seen Pinion get real playing time so it's only natural to assume he's next up.
Thought you were better than this, to be honest.

Lol we had just won 5 straight without Pinion playing much at all. Suddenly we lose a couple and get him in there!

You ignore reality to accuse our fanbase of playing favorites due to race but I'm the Karen. Alright.
