One could argue he's had more success than GM since GM has had to compete in a decent conference.

You're splitting hairs and that isn't the point.

The point is the stakes have to be raised to get a guy to move and you don't nickle and dime over 1/2 or a million dollars/year.

This day in age with all the money flying around, it is a rounding error.

Ok gotcha.. The way they all act like having a high post count is some kind of bad of honor..

In other words if you can deal with the mood swings of the fricking bi-polar mods there long enough to get to a certain post count your opinion carries more weight ?

Maybe as a yes man for a bunch of wannabes...But thats about it. It would be nice to find a message board with people who are in the know.. But its sure as frick not that bunch of clowns.

Would you believe that I heard that some of the posters on that board didn't want to hire Mussellman bc his wifes skin color !!!!!!

Yep.. knuckledraggers.

That's my main concern with Marshall as well. As far as the money goes, it ain't my money so I'll leave that aspect to the higher ups.

I can understand concerns about Marshall, but we will be giving him more money for assistants, as well as, tools for recruiting. He isn't necessarily whom I would chose, but I think the targets we have will be able to do better than what we have had.

Not sure if this has been posted in here this morning.

quote:

FAYETTEVILLE -- The search for the University of Arkansas' next basketball coach likely could extend into next week.

That's because a top target is still coaching his team, and it's not NIT finalists Shaka Smart (Texas) or Casey Alexander (Lipscomb).

Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek wants to talk to Texas Tech Coach Chris Beard -- who has led the Red Raiders to their first NCAA Tournament Final Four appearance and a matchup against Michigan State on Saturday -- according to sources, but any conversation will have to wait until the team's season ends.

It's debatable if Beard would leave Texas Tech for Arkansas or any other job considering he has a 57-16 record the last two seasons with the Red Raiders.

But Arkansas officials hope to at least gauge Beard's interest and make him an offer to return to the state to coach the Razorbacks.

Beard, 46, spent the 2015-16 season as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's coach and led the Trojans to a 30-5 record, Sun Belt Conference regular-season and tournament championships and an NCAA Tournament appearance, where they beat Purdue before losing to Iowa State.

During the Red Raiders' run to the Elite Eight last season, Beard signed a six-year, $19 million deal that is paying him $2.8 million this season with the contract gradually increasing to $3.3 million through the 2023-24 season

The contract has a current buyout of about $6 million if Beard were to leave after this season.

Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt told the Dallas Morning News on Wednesday that he's ready to upgrade Beard's contract after this season.

"It would be my intention to be able to have that conversation Tuesday or Wednesday," Hocutt said. "And Chris and I have talked about this."

Hocutt said discussions between he and Beard about a new contract began in late February.

"I would say out of our focus and Coach Beard's focus and commitment to this team and this season, we decided to hit the pause button until the season is over," Hocutt told the Morning News.

Texas Tech has begun construction on a $30 million practice facility, and Hocutt said he believes in the school's ability to continue investing in its basketball program and keep Beard.

"I'm extremely confident that Texas Tech is a great basketball job," Hocutt said. "I'm extremely confident that we have the right coach, one of the best coaches in the country leading our program right now."

Kevin McPherson
? @ARHoopScoop

Kevin McPherson Retweeted Joseph Duarte

And now, the moment you've all (Hog fans) been waiting for: The Sampson deal-breaker with the Hogs ... per source, Arkansas's offer to Sampson was for more money than his new Houston contract, but did not include coach-in-waiting ... Sampson's UA deadline was Monday morning ...

I will say if we are waiting on Beard, there must be some interest through representation, or we are preventing him from going elsewhere.

If we took a coach from a final 4 team, it would set the world on fire and I would expect some awesome things happening in the future. I still personally find it unlikely, but I would most definitely be beyond pumped if he left TT to come to Arkansas.

So how does this work with Sampson having his son take over? Is that a legit binding thing? Basically, if Kelvin stinks it up, they have to remove him and take his son correct? Sounds stupid as frick.

Speaking of Tardville earlier, Wilson is up to his old BS again:

Bc media members like Mike Irwin, Jim Harris, Otis Kirk, and others are so informed and their opinions matter more...

Beard, isn't going anywhere... I would eat my beard if it happens.

as I said earlier....The one thing in all of this that has me confused is Musselman. What was in his background that threw a monkey wrench in this? Look deeply at his past, ex wife, girlfriend, etc and the "Me too" movement. Is this the smoke?

And... LSU stuff has folks a bit worried that Muss was involved somehow, someway, but I doubt it. Cause he don't recruit

laugh it up Rev, but the man brought us Bobby during a search when it looked bleak.

He's big buddies with Beard so lets see if he can do it again.
