So, why does everyone say no chance at Beard? He's at Texas Tech, which is in El Paso.
If we really want him we could slap him and his wife across the face with thousand dollar bills.
I don't think he's out of bounds at all as long as we are willing to pay what he thinks he is worth.
It would help if he would lose soon.

Beard will not be at Arkansas....
I wish..but, it just wont happen. If it does, I would be in absolute shock. Spoke to a friend on the hill recently, and he said, NOPE... TOo much period.
Plus, Smart is about to move on from TX, and Beard will be going there. Hope im wrong, but Smart will probably go back towards Virginia... Buzz Leaves, Shaka goes to Vir Tech, and Beard to Texas...

Thought this was interesting when doing the kentucky gamethread.
-The Cougars will enter the game with a 33-3 record after winning the American Athletic Conference regular-season championship on the shoulders of one of the best defenses in the country.
-Houston ranks No. 1 in the country in field-goal percentage defense, No. 1 in 3-point field goal percentage defense and No. 7 in scoring defense entering the Sweet 16. The Cougars are also No. 5 national in rebounds per game and No. 8 in rebounding margin.
-The Houston offense is no slouch either. Corey Davis Jr. leads the way with a 17.1 scoring average while Armoni Brooks adds 13.3 points and 6.4 boards per outing. Davis and Brooks have each made more than 110 3-pointers this season and four Cougars make 35 percent or more of their 3-point shots.

As it stands of 5 minutes ago, ‘definitely more likely than not Sampson stays at Houston.’ But he’s not talking business until after the season is over, obviously.
Was also told ‘who knows how Houston’s AD would handle something like this and whether or not he could handle the situation properly.’
That’s not too much different than I reported yesterday but is from a more recent conversation. And as I have been saying since Tuesday, Arkansas definitely sent a third party feeler Sampson’s way.
I asked and my source said Sampson is ‘Definitely the number one choice for Arkansas.’

Trey is also the only payboard guy really covering and reporting on it, he apparently has a very good source on the situation.
Anyone that thinks we're just going to walk in there and offer 3-4M and take him with ease is very misguided.

It may not be a great year to be doing this, but we should pay and continue pushing basketball to bring it to par to our historical past.

with this information getting out, prior to K. Sam speaking to Houston about his future for sure... I wonder who put this out there? This was in the planning stages only, not signed.
If his camp put it out, it shows that he is reaching for more possibly. I sure hope we don't wind up with Plan d...

also would like to add to not get sucked into everything that is being reported.
arkansas/national media said arkansas was hiring tubby smith.
Reported that gundy was taking the arkansas job and then about 15 minutes later bielema took the job.

yet I got a call several hours prior to Petrino being hired, didn't believe it . and it happened.
I also got a call the day prior to Nutt being let go with the golden parachute and that he was already going to OM prior to it happening.
Heard about Beard to TX today, if Smart goes to Va Tech, etc... Moving parts everywhere.
ANother thing to consider, there will be some others released in the coming weeks and months concerning the FBI probe and NCAA getting more info. What high level jobs will be open then?

I will say this. If HY let Mike go without a prett darn good deal in place with Sampson I’m not to impressed with him at this point. Plan D isn’t impressive.
