The placement of the spring game was never going to change that

You clearly do if "laughed off the forum next week" actually matters to you.

Don't take this place that seriously

Nobody watches the NFL draft. The picks are on Twitter 5 minutes before they're announced on TV.

Randy Ramsey is set to have the best academic semester of his career. Maturity wise, he's taken a big step. Really feels he can have a big jump in the fall. Knack for rushing the passer. Long arms, good power.

Having the latest spring game in the SEC is a result of the 8-week offseason program that is longer than most. Good recruiting weekend lined up for next weekend.

Johnny Gibson is standing out. He's someone he really wanted to improve maturity and development wise. Gave a good message to the team today in practice. Hjalte Froholdt is continuing to improve. Brian Wallace has made some strides, but banged up his arm this week. Zack Rogers can do everything, kind of like a Swiss Army knife.

I'll say this. Bielema has been a pretty average coach here record wise. But he cares about the kids and making them good people students and football players. I can appreciate that about him. He really seems to mean what he says about that.

Didn't they put a pretty deep layer of dirt down on it before laying the fields?

I'm sure they put something down, but it a distinct trait different in the training process of Arkansas Players vs other schools who are supplied the same equipment.

But I mean its all because of one-legged squats and bad luck.

i'm simply saying I mean in the sports world there is a season for everything. things have to start and things have to end. One of the reasons the NFL is starting to suck ratings wise is because they have forgotten that. Things start, and have an ending. spring football is late march early April thing. Peoples attention spans have been hard wired for spring football to be around that time then they will pretend to care about boxing and horse racing it messes up the entire sports ecosystem.

it's like when BCS first came out and the cheap bowls got slick and started to have their games after the BCS when the brain has been trained that after the BCS game now it's college basketball time. Yes they were the only show in town but no one gave a shite lol. That's whats going to happen next week. it's not in spring football season anymore.

You can't see the forest for the trees once again.

Irrelevant that lots of people don't watch. It's a spring game only diehards have ever watched this period. The fans will watch, some recruits can watch if they're interested, but most importantly we can have kids visit and not compete with the big schools for that visit.

It's not really that big a deal though.

Wow man, you really can't focus on two things at once.

Basketball starts in mid-October.

The spring game was often stacked on the derby in hot springs.

This late end helps divert attention from DVH's perinnial SEC collapse.

You're looking for negatives that are not there.

People rag on MA but the man has never blown a late season lead in the SEC.

I can see the forest quite well. Spring practice generally falls somewhere around SPRING BREAK for high schoolers, it's easier for kids to get around and not miss classes. That's the whole point. That's why spring football is in march, not the end of april when kids are preparing for finals and ACTs.

But what do I know. we'll see next week. when we have an underwheling crowd, an underwhelming list of recruits and no commitments don't say i didn't tell you.

Spring game dates under Bielema. These things never take place in March.

Hell the later the better because we aren't competing with so many teams on the same day.

Not to mention they set up the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday format so recruits are able to pick a Saturday from the month to come watch the scrimmage or practice and visit the facilities.

This is one thing Bielema has strategically planned wisely.

2017 SEC spring game attendance:

LINK /

1. Alabama: 74,326 (April 22)
2. Georgia: 66,133 (April 22)
3. Florida: estimated 48,000 (April 7)
4. Auburn: 46,331 (April 8)
5. LSU: estimated 35,000 (April 22)
5. Tennessee: estimated 35,000 (April 22)
6. Texas A&M: nearly 21,000 (April 8)
7. Mississippi State: 16,630 (April 8)
8. Missouri: 16,457 (April 15)
9. South Carolina: estimated 12,345 (April 1)
10. Ole Miss: approximately 8,000 (April 8)

The usual suspects lead the way. Playing early spring games didn't help ol' piss, south carolina, mizzou, or miss state with their excitement or attendance #s.

Barring a cancellation due to storms we will have at least 20k at the stadium this weekend. Playing the game on the same weekend as a SEC baseball series (vs. Ole Miss) is smart.
