Unpossible! Everyone knows you can't win with a balanced, run-oriented attack.

Yeah, I think the difference is that Bert established a history of high APR and good walk-on programs. Everyone thought Petrino was a disciplinarian who was tough on his players, but in reality he was just an a-hole and a dirty old man who put his dick first, before his family and the program. He hasn't proven he can sustain success at a program for more than a few years.

I think Bert is on the right track...it's not his fault the state doesn't produce enough quality Defensive guys. He has proven already that he is bringing in good offensive talent.
Yea as has been stated before, the defensive side of the ball is what will make or break Bert. More specifically the defensive backfield.
Good thing Bert is a defensive minded coach and he just hired a defensive backs coach away from a defensive guru at TCU. At least on paper it looks promising

It would be more promising if this guy could put in the strategy used at TCU in taking WRs and RBs and converting them to DBs and LBs.
Since all the talent in Arkansas is for the most part going to end up on the offensive side of the ball, but it can be hard to convince a WR/RB to give up having the ball in their hands on the CUSA/Sunbelt level to try and earn a spot on the defensive side of the field in the SEC.

In other news...Jake Hall and Tyler Colquitt were given scholarships today.
There was rumors that Hall was going to greyshirt this year and apparently they were true. The Colquitt news is interesting because that means he got a scholarship over Chris Jones who many, including myself, assumed would be a heavy contributor at FB after Walker graduates.

I think Colquitt will find his way back to LB before he leaves Fayetteville

Will be interesting to see.
I believe a staff will have to look at RBs and WRs in this state who are physically capable of playing LB and DB after a RS year. Its the best way to maximize our in state resources, most of these guys at the smaller schools play on both sides of the ball some anyway.
The pay and draft picks in the NFL going to LB/DB compared to RB should be enough to convince these guys its better to make the switch and play in the SEC vs being an all everything RB in the Sunbelt/CUSA.
If this state could supplement the OOS recruiting at these positions via a position change, redshirting and development, the program as a whole would benefit and have a better chance at sustained success.
I'm not talking about only freak athletes like Marshall who could be one hell of a safety, but is too talented and big of a threat to not be a RB, but a guy from smaller schools like he came from who were "Good" RBs, but not "good enough" for SEC play, a few of these guys would have the speed/size to make the switch, I would think.

I dunno Bielema has been raving about him as a FB. It reminds me of how Petrino raved about Kiero Small when we got him.

Luke Matheson spoke with Colquit and it sounds like he will be our starting FB

That would be kinda shocking. Where does that leave Kody Walker?

Why was Matheson talking to Colquit? Isn't he solely a stAte reporter now?

no clue...I believe he does run the stAte Rivals site but also does Arkansas Varsity

Luke probably has a relationship with Tyler when he was committed to UCA and Luke interviewed him for Arkansas Varsity.

I'm guessing Kody Walker will be the Brandon Jacobs to our 3 headed Ahmad Bradshaw.

Could you possibly post here what he said? I would be curious to read his thoughts.
No worries if you can't. I completely understand.

Can't say they didn't pull out all the stops on this kid. I don't think I've ever seen an instate kid pursued this hard.

"That doesn't affect them at all. I know wherever I go they'll have other tight ends committed or have other good tight ends on the squad. Shoot, Hale Hentges committed to Alabama. I feel like I'm the best tight end out there so that doesn't make me look at Arkansas any differently that they committed C.J. O'Grady and Austin Cantrell. Not at all."
"They told me if I'm ready to commit the door is open. They said that door will be open all the way until signing day. They're saving me a spot no matter what."

I guess he plans on dragging this shite out to the end, looking at the roster, Arkansas might not have a spot to save for him if it fills up with other needs and with better players...

I believe that is a premium article you linked. Or at least it pops up as a premium article for me.
