How do you guys reconcile this with our taking so many OL? We have more proven OL than we do DE.

Because 5 OL play at once. You should always take 3-5 OL in eachc lass

I think that we should be able to out recruit Kentucky.

We do every year. This year Kentucky had an abnormal amount of instate talent, and Louisville hired Petrino. Kentucky had the pick of the litter. This year is the exception to the rule.

Regardless, is Soloman Thomas a higher probability to get to the NFL than any of our DE's were coming out of high school? Yes. All of them.

Darius Winston had a higher probability to make the NFL coming out of high school than Tyrann Mathieu. What's your point?

I bet Pittman is one of those who, when trashed on brats and the beast, would be the life of the party.

In fairness to him, he did say "proven."

From that list, I'd say Flowers, Winston, Wise and probably Lewis. But still, those 4 constitute a really good DE two-deep.

Regarding the whole "are we signing 24 or 25" thing -- any possibility that we're holding a spot for Pierce to get his grade/score up? Or is that all moot at this point and he's headed elsewhere or to JUCO?

what joel thomas just said about recruits maybe not being a 5* but being someone who fits what they are trying to do and will buy into what they are teaching...

I was thinking that if we finish with 24 maybe the staff thought djax was coming here. I don't know I may have read too much into what was said but it just seemed like Coach was expecting 25 today.

Could be, especially considering what Hawgeye said earlier in the thread about Jackson supposedly committing to the staff on his OV. Who knows, though, since the kid was obviously sort of a head case as it pertains to his commitment/recruitment. If I'm Bert, I'm not sure I'd want to trust the word of an 18 year old kid who is all over the place.

Demetrius Jackson signs with Miami...and now...
some thoughts.

This is a young man that I found to be very pleasant.

He kept telling Randy Shannon and the Arkansas staff that he would be a Razorback. Did so over and over and over.

They were always wary of his true intentions.

He went as far to say that he planned a flip on Tuesday, Feb. 4th and gave several recruiting reporters quotes on that.

Here are some of those:

"I am signing with Arkansas. That's for certain. I am just waiting to announce it."
“Arkansas was my first offer and they have been on me hard and they have been loyal to me even when I committed to UM,” Jackson said. “UM hasn't been giving me trouble. UM fans have been giving me trouble if I decide to take a visit.
“This is my life,” Jackson added. “It is whatever I want to do. I am not doing nothing wrong to nobody. That would be the main reason plus I get along with the guys down here. It is a college town and if I get away from home I will grow as a man.”
“It's been crazy,” Jackson said. “At first, people didn't care what college I went to and now all of a sudden they care. That's crazy.”
Arkansas fans:
“It is amazing now, blowing my mind,” Jackson said. “The fans are generous and warm and they accept me. It is a college atmosphere and this is where I want to be – in a college atmosphere like this.”

Randy Shannon
“Denver told me what type of person he is,” Jackson said. “A father figure and that is more interesting to me than just being a football coach. Anybody can coach football. Show me something different than other coaches. Don't talk about football, show me something different. He has been showing me something different – him, Coach B, really the whole coaching staff.”

Where did you get this from?

I'm just curious because I am starting to believe that all of these guys are getting their quotes handed them from one place and not actually getting a lot of these quote on their own.

This is from 247. Otis said that this was an interview that Jackson gave him. The quotes are the exact same as what you posted in some places.

quote:

“It is amazing now, blowing my mind,” Jackson said. “The fans are generous and warm and they accept me. It is a college atmosphere and this is where I want to be – in a college atmosphere like this.”

On Rory Segrest: “So far he seems like a person that knows what he wants,” Jackson said. “He seems like a defensive guy. He is a big guy.”

“Arkansas was my first offer and they have on me hard and they have been loyal to me even when I committed to UM,” Jackson said.

Denver

“It has been fun – joking and laughing,” Jackson said. “It was like old times...He loves it here. He said the fans are crazy.” Playing football instead of just basketball “It is a great decision – a life changer,” Jackson said. “I know I am blessed because many people have been playing football for years and I step on the football field for one spring. It's not like I haven't done anything – my play is backing it up – for me getting those offers. It is just a humbling experience, blessed and I am thankful. I take nothing for granted.”

Strengths: “Timing, my footwork,” Jackson said. “I am strong and I've got speed. When I come to college, I want to get stronger and faster and run my O-lineman. Either give them a move or if they think I am going to run by them, get in their chest and knock them back, time the ball and tip it. A little all-around.” “It is a fact,” Jackson said. “I am coming here.” “It's been crazy,” Jackson said. “At first, people didn't care what college I went to and now all of a sudden they care. That's crazy.”

Randy Shannon
