ame guy whose defense gave up 70+ in the Orange Bowl? No thanks.
Yeah but he wouldn't be the DC. That is Paul Haynes job. He is a hell of a recruiter and it would be good to have a hired gun on that front if we really are going to go the way of an interim coach for a year.

I see your point. As a position coach yes, he would probably be the best available right now.

speaking of position coaches...
@BFeldmanCBS
Cowboys? RT @realfreemancbs: Unbelievably, I'm hearing there's NFL interest in Petrino as a position coach.

I don't know why that's unbelieveable. He will have a job at a BCS school in '13 guaranteed. Teams that weren't involved in this are easily going to look past it.

This morning and this afternoon, two independent sources have told us that Arkansas AD Jeff Long has already spoken with current UAB head coach, and former Arkansas offensive coordinator, Garrick McGee about taking over as head coach at Arkansas.
Both sources told us that Long and McGee discussed keeping the existing staff intact.
The two sources we spoke with both felt that McGee would have no problem retaining Paul Petrino as offensive coordinator and both felt that Paul would stay.
McGee has his UAB team in Spring ball right now (Spring game is on the 21st). Given this timing, we expect nothing to be said publicly until UAB completes Spring ball; but both sources felt that McGee would be announced as the new head coach shortly thereafter.
Clearly this is a fluid situation; but that's what we've been told by two sources.

Honestly, I'd love McGee to lead this program.

No kidding. I would be stoked if we brought McGee back. Make it happen Jeff!

He deleted it now, but right when BP was fired DJ Williams said something along the lines of " Go get McGee!!!!! Call him right now!!! He can lead this program"

Nice. I see he is also suggested himself to lead the team.

That too
I've seriously talked myself into McGee right now. He is who I want.

Yep McGee would keep my interest at an all time high. It would suck for UAB if we took him now but I have to think he couldn't pass the opportunity up.

no way that happens... So McGee just put together a staff at UAB two months ago and now he's gonna tell those guys 'good luck, i'm out'?... never mind the fact he'd be giving the finger to the program he just made a committment to.
That would look almost as bad as Petrino's exit from ATL, only with a lot less opposing fans caring.
Granted, It's not it's beneath Jeff Long to attempt to hire hire away a coach before he should.

It would be ironic to say the least.

not only that, but it'd be a pretty crappy thing to do... and arkansas doesn't need the potential PR hit hiring a coach who's been on the job three months would potentially create.
plus, there's no reason to rush out and hire a Garrick McGee... dude's gonna be there 8 months from now when the season's over. He could be a complete dumpster fire as a HC... who knows? Look at it as a season long interview.

Jamel James- With Coach P leaving it hurts my commitment in a major way. My main reason for committing was to play for coach P

It makes sense if you think you can make a run this year.
