You can count back to the previous class as long as you have spots available. If we sign 20 this time then we could sign a total of 30 next year. The players that do count back have to be mid term guys though so you are looking at JUCO players or the occasional HS kid that graduates early.
I would like to see us get a full class but at the bare minimum 22-23.

Why? Why do you want to sign kids for the sake of signing them? If the staff doesn't feel like they would work in the program than why would you take a spot from next year's class and put a kid in a position where he may have to transfer so we can, for all intensive purposes, just pat ourselves on the back?
There's nothing wrong with waiting till next year to pick up these spots, especially if we can get players that we want rather than players that are basically just line items. 20 is low but it's not program crippling.

Not sure if your question is towards me or not but I'm not saying sign kids for the hell of it. Of course you want to get kids that can play. I would like to see us get a full class of players that can at one point in their career help us out.
Saying all that we have depth issues at several positions and continuning to put it off until next year and then the year after and so on aren't going to fix that. There comes a time when taking your 3rd or 4th option might still be better than saving a spot for later.

Someone else can probably explain this better since it's a clusterfrick.
Classic Hootie Dale oversigning each class and weeding your way through and widdling down to 85 scholarship players has been done away with. Teams were signing 125-130 players in a 4 year period and processing like crazy, grayshirting, medical waivering kids, sign and place etc. etc.
So you can only sign 25 per class now, unless you failed to sign 25 the previous year. Say we only sign 21 this year, we'll have 4 spots to count back. Once August hits the cycle starts over, we can pull a Willy Rob Petrino and find a marginal player in March and desperately add him to class, or if we carry the 4 extra spots they can be counted back ONLY if they are early enrollee's out of HS or mid term JUCO transfers.
So if we have any extra spots, we have to fill them with Jan. enrollees or we lose them. It's what USC and A&M did to oversign this year.

we've done this before as well. It's a pretty feasible deal to plan on oversigning a couple of spots.

it's "for all Intents and Purposes" not intensive purposes.
carry on.

I believe his purpose was extremely narrow in scope.

It's a joke.
Kind of like that say the point is "mute" rather than "moot", or saying "could care less" rather than "couldn't care less".
It's one of those things that has been so bastardized over the years I just gave up and gave in.

from your link -
For all intensive purposes
Frequently spoken by a complete fricking retard, usually from Alabama, who intends to say "For all intents and purposes".
I mean, it says it right there. I'm not hating, just saying.

No, you're thinking of "extruded porpoises" AKA Chicken of the Sea.

I think i am using the correct terminology when i say this but somebody correct me if i am wrong.
Who gives a shite. This is a recruiting discussion not a grammar lesson.
Should i have used an or a? I can never remember what to do.

You use an if the word after it starts with a vowel. It's a every other time though.

just to keep the derailing going since i absolutely never add anything of value to the recruiting stuff besides the occasional
post after seeing good news posted from you guys.
effect and affect- i hate them, they should be one word i don't care what anyone says.

There are some cases in which people use "an" before words beginning with consonants. An example:
The nerd gave an historical account of some old, dead people and shite that they did.
I think this is a British thing because they don't necessarily pronounce the 'h' in history. I think most Americans will write "a historical account" because we pronounce the 'h'.
So really, the 'an' comes before a word that begins with a vowel sound, even if the letter begins with a consonant. Just leave it to the English to frick up their own language.

Careful, you also use 'an' if the next word begins with a vowel sound, not just a vowel. Ex: 'An honorable discharge.'
Likewise, you would use 'a' if the next word begins with a consonant sound, even if that word begins with a vowel. Ex: 'A unique experience.'
