Just spent 2hrs at the Neal's home in Scottsdale & I can honestly say I have no idea which school will receive Davonte's LOI in the morning.

Any thoughts on the WR from Louisville we're looking at? the 6-6 4.4 speed Hoopster that sounds like he plans on playing both in college.

Not sure if he's explosive like is needed in the SEC but he's an interesting project to say the least.

If we have a spot I assume we'll get him. He also has a 42 inch vert.

Sounds like Notre Dame imo based off of these comments.

quote:

“It was last Wednesday when we finally arrived at the decision,” Neal shares. “I basically went to my dad and told him, 'Hey I know, I know what school I’m going to’. And he was supportive of it. “I just felt it. I felt like that was the school for me as far as after football, 40 years after college, it would help me be successful.”

Neal slept on it, revisited the decision, discussed it with his family some more, and chose to stick with it.

“It came down to what’s best for me academically and also in regards to a social life, because you know you have to be social in college,” Neal says.

Here is what he had to say about each of his four finalists. I like his comments on us.

quote:

Arizona: “Arizona is close to home, it’s a new program, they’re an upcoming program and they’re going to be good in a couple years.”

Arkansas: “Arkansas is a powerhouse, it’s in the SEC, they know how to throw the ball and they know how to get the ball to the receivers.”

North Carolina: “It’s close to my grandmother and it’s a nice town, nice people, and the facilities are really nice. The team is also really good.”

Notre Dame: “The academics; they have the best academics and they make sure that you graduate.”

It's all his comments about ND's academics that make me pretty sure that is where he is going.

I still hope we (Notre Dame) get him, but that was extremely classless and disappointing.

Sounds like his Dad wants him to go to ND and he wants to go to Arizona. If we are out of it, I hope he at least called our coaches and let them know so we can fully focus on McKay.

I feel bad for the kid if this is the case. He should be able to go where he wants to go.

Or maybe he simply wants his son to go to the best academic school, who also just so happens to have by far the most tradition and (tied with UNC) the most players in the NFL out of the schools listed?

About five minutes before Neal was supposed to announce, a source said the Neals were not going to the event.

Recently signed Arizona linebacker Cody Ippolito, one of Neal's closest friends at Chaparral, who attended the event, said that Davonte' didn't answer his texts, but is convinced Neal wants to go to UA, where his high school coach, Charlie Ragle, is now part of Rich Rodriguez's staff.

Luke Neal said Monday that UA would not be the school. Luke Neal had put Notre Dame at the top of his son's list with Arkansas not far behind.
