I would be very surprised if he doesn't end up at Oregon. He's made no secret during this entire process that they were at the top of his list. If we can just get him to visit though then we definitely have a shot since he truly is so high on track. It will be interesting to see if he keeps the visit or not. As of yesterday his dad told RD that they were still on for coming.

This fricking place is great. Now I don't have to go to twitter and try to decipher all of that jibber-jabber in regards to recruiting.

Official Visitor list for the weekend:

Alex Collins, RB, Florida
Denver Kirkland, OL, Florida
DJ. Dean, CB, Texas
Dwayne Johnson, OL, Texas
Kenny Lacy, OL, Arizona
Ke'Tyrus Marks, DT, Florida
De'Andre Coley, S, Florida

RD expects this De'Andre Coley kid to commit. He's not in the 247 or Rivals databases but RD says he has 6 offers. Goes to Miami Northwestern which is about the only positive I see out of this one. That is THE school in Miami so at least we would have our foot in the door with them.

Lawd, meltdown when this drags us down in the rankings on both sites because he gets the dreaded NR ranking, we can only hope Rivals gives him a 2*, kid could be the next Atwater, but this is the internet and recrootin rankins, serious bidness.

I mean there is diamond in the rough and then there is someone who is not even in the database of the three largest recruiting services when they play at one of the top high school programs in the state. Probably every school east of the Mississippi has had scouts at one of their games or practices at least.

I'm not a recruiting rankings guy because Arkansas has never recruited well but has had continued success but I don't think you can call it a stretch to be a little confused by this one.

Like I said, he's a good player based off his hudl film but I am betting this is more about getting a Northwestern kid on the roster than it is actually about thinking this kid will develop in to Steve Atwater's clone.

Just mentioned Atwater cause he's a safety and he's from a time before recruiting websites, nothing more was meant by the comment.

However, pretty sure the athlete/high school coach has to put some form of effort in creating the profiles on the recruiting websites.

Yes and no. They get in there a variety of different ways. Recruiting guys themselves can create profiles for guys on their own or the coaches and athletes can request profiles to be made for them. The offer lists usually come from the coaches and athletes however.

Currently Northwestern has 10 Seniors in the Rivals database with 5 of them being NR.

This kid could obviously have a backstory. Maybe he just made his grades or was hurt a lot. Who knows.

I mean I am guessing it's either him or AJ Tucker for that last Safety spot. We're always going to have a pipeline to LR Central. We would love to build one into Northwestern. It probably is a no brainer to take this kid in that sense.

If it is between him and Tucker I would rather have Tucker. He was at least on some big schools radar after his JR year. If it wasn't for him being hurt most of the year he would have been ranked and recruited by several schools.

That could be the main (or a strong secondary) motivation behind offering him. But if Tubbs and Shannon both want him then he clearly has some upside. He probably hasn't attended many camps and that's why he isn't in the databases.

Just got off the phone with Miami (Fla.) Northwestern DB De'Andre Coley (6-1, 185, 4.4) and his head coach.

Coach Campbell told me that he and Randy Shannon are good friends, and at some point this summer Shannon went down and spent a little time at Campbell's school. He said Shannon fell in love with Coley, who has flown well under the radar to this point. Coley said his only offers are from Jackson State and Northern Colorado, but his coach says he has more than that including one from Cincinnati. Apparently Shannon loves him as a prospect and went ahead an offered. Coley will be in Fayetteville this weekend and just told me that he will be committing to Arkansas.

He was so far off the radar that we're having to build him a profile page right now, so that'll be done shortly.

Campbell describes Coley as a DB who loves to come up and hit people in the mouth.

Without seeing his film, I'll trust Shannon's evaluation/coaching ability.

well if Randy Shannon falls in love with you then who am I to argue.

With that said this kid is at least a plan B or C option. Those have worked out for us in the past though so welcome to the hill De'Andre, glad you'll be a part of the team that ends our streak against Alabama.
