10:34 update Tennessee OL commitment Dan Skipper, 6-10, 295 of Colorado said OL coach Dan Pittman was a big reason for him committing to the Vols. Thinks very highly of him. Didn't want to say much more than that until he sees the hiring become official.

Sounds like he's committed to a coach which could actually work in our favor for the first time ever.

From RD tonight regarding Chaney coming to Fayetteville to look at Austin Allen

quote:

Hog QB commitemnt Austin Allen is impressed with Chaney's resume and what he's done at Tennessee. He was offered by Chaney, who traveled to Fayetteville to see Allen throw but rain cancelled the session

Surely there was no chance the Walker Pavillion could have been made available for a UT coach to scout a hog commit.

So BB's 1st commit at UA is an undersized 2 star safety? I know the kid had some big offers but I hope he can do better than a Safety that is under 6 ft tall consistently or we may be in trouble.

3 star on 247, which is by far the best/top site.

JUCO's don't get rated that highly anways.

Offers from Auburn, SC, Clemson, MSU are really all that needs to be said about his ability.

Eric Berry's barely 6 ft, if that. He seems to be doing okay.

And the offers matter a lot more to me than stars. His offer list is nice. Plus, Bielema knows defense and evidently thought this kid could start from day 1 at Wisconsin.

how big you want your safeties? Most safeties are around 6ft a little under from what i've seen.

I remember Tramain Thomas was listed a 6-3, we measured 5-11 at the combine.

With most TE's in the 6-4 to 6-6 range, I'd prefer safeties that are at least 6-1. But hey, if he will come up and lay the hat, bring him on. I admit I haven't seen his video but I will watch it when I get time.

According to answer.com when I googled average size of NFL safeties

quote:

Big Safety: 6'2" and 210lbs. on to 230lbs.+ [but no more than 235lbs.]
Average Safety: 5'11" 190lbs on to 200+ pounds
Small Safety: 5'9" 180lbs.

chacha.com also agreed.
