I haven’t heard his name much this year (the one PI). Are teams just not throwing his way or just finding too much success picking on D. Lee?

Overall, our secondary has been a disappointing unit, given the talent. The scheme Saturday was going to allow yards, granted, but what about the previous games? We give up way too many chunk plays.

I think the UGA matchup will allow us to play more man. We will have a more complete picture after that.

Brown is a shutdown corner and teams are not testing him. Lee is getting picked on a bit more this year than the others, especially when we're in man.

Brown is a lockdown corner. Look at the tape, Lee is the wounded gazelle.

Not hearing a CB's name is always a good thing.

Brown has been solid to great since he stepped on the field as a true freshman. How often can you say that about a player at any position, much less one as difficult to play as CB? Dude is special. His pick 6's vs UT and OU last year were probably my favorite plays of the season.

They lead the nation with four pick-6’s in five games. Get real.

Not only does he shut down half the field, he is clutch AF. He just seems to make the biggest plays when BAMA needs them most.

I guess you’re happy with being 106 in the country in pass yards allowed.

Last I checked, points are what matter most.

Bama has, thus far, won every game in blowout fashion. Opponents have been forced to abandon the run game in favor of the pass. This generally results in a defense giving up more yards thru the air. Also Bama has faced a couple of stud receivers and sometimes the other guy makes a great play.

Bama defense is different than the lock down Saban defenses of 2011 and 2015 but I believe that is mostly a result of how the game itself has evolved as opposed to coaching philosophy. They do give up some yards but play great situational defense and create lots of turnovers so it's kinda all in the eye of the beholder.

Bama is 51st in scoring defense. And two of those pick sixes mentioned were from the LBs. I’m not saying the secondary is bad but if you HAD to pick one unit that’s had the most issues they are the answer. But that’s also because every other unit on the team has matched or exceeded expectations

That’s a fair criticism, but to call the unit “a disappointment” is ridiculous.

It also forces teams to take chances and go for 4th downs

I guess the flip side to this is that the run defense has been elite by every metric; given up less than 2.5 yards per carry, less than 80 yards per game total. Both top 10 statistically. Top 10 in the country in 3rd down percentage as well.

All boils down to so far offenses have little choice but to throw the ball a lot, are often in 3rd and long scenarios and are playing from behind. Only path forward is to start slinging it around. Our opponents are averaging over 30 passes a game.

Kind of a smart play even if doesn't look great for efficiency. Stop the run, make them throw a lot knowing that turnovers happen more that way (we rank #5 in interception percentage 5.25%) , and once they do that there's no way to keep pace with how we can score.

It's a long way to say that while the numbers don't look great for the secondary, so far its been very complimentary football.
