Do you all remember that ferocious Washington pass rush that held Jalen to 57 passing yards?

I hope we don't see them again either
Washington was top 15 in sacks last year. Also top 15 in pass defense. They had a better pass rush ranking than every sec team besides us. They had a better pass d than us

Just out of curiosity, what does "letting go" mean to you?

Letting go of any hope that this offense will be better than last year
And honestly, without Kiffin it might just be worse

Why do some of you want to have Hurts stay in the pocket so much?

In 16 games, When Hurts is on the move or design rollout he completes 73% of his passes. When standing in the pocket he completes less than 40%. What would you rather him do? Now let's take away last year and look at just FSU, the times he threw from the pocket and had time, he hit them. So maybe some improvement ? You tell me.

Why, do you suppose, do the coaches rarely call those crossing routes over the middle? I

I have already proven the middle of the field comment is totally false from last season. So let's look at FSU why oh why wouldn't we call plays into the middle of one of the BEST secondary forces in college. We didn't turn the ball over and won the game by 17. I don't give a shite if they don't call risky passes in the middle of the field against fsu.

What comment? I watched the games last year. Relative to our offense in recent years, and relative to most successful passing offenses, we ran few routes over the middle.

edit: And you ask why so many want Hurts to stay in the pocket. You're spinning the point. We want Hurts to check off to secondary receivers rather than taking off and gaining only a few yards, which is the norm now that defenses have learned his tendencies.

In hopes he might go through some reads/progression?

So when the play is designed to pass to 1-2 targets he's more accurate?

We all have hope that Hurts can turn the corner and improve drastically on his passing skills. Debating whether or not this happens doesn't make anyone less of a Bama fan.

UF made the comment he never passed over the middle last year, go find the comments a few pages back. That is false.

I know we did pass some over the middle. Just not much. Not enough, imo, to keep defenses honest. Throwing over the middle can be a perilous thing, and the coaches...for whatever reason....don't call it very much.

We could do more over the middle I just don't think FSU is the team to ease into that. Our next couple of games yes.

I agree with you that by whatever game plan it took to beat FSU, then good. I do know, as well, that the passing game will be better the next couple of games. I am hopeful that will carry over to the tough games down the road. I remember Jay Barker having trouble, and he got better. He got way better, and I believe Jalen can too.

I agree sometimes the game plan is passing light, depending on the team we play. However, all the pieces have to work to make certain plays. And this just in

That's a good point, and that's my hope too.

Barker couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in '92. He came from a heavily run based offense in highschool (they ran the old school wingT), and it took him some time to get up to speed. Very similar to Hurts.

We won a NC in '09 with McElroy, who was very pedestrian. I'm confident Saban can do it with hurts.

Boz, I'm skeptical of that 73% completion stat you posted.

Not saying you didn't hear it, just maybe the source didn't have it accurate.
