Has LSU already had their spring game ? It seems like they already have. If so, that's huge because of what's currently going on and the fact that they had so much turnover on their staff and roster.

No, but I believe they started a week or two earlier (they usually do). So they got more practice in than a lot of programs did.

Hadn't thought of that. We are fortunate to gave an experienced guy returning that knows the system. Georgia will have an uphill battle with getting their transfer up to snuff.

It's so massive that we were able to retain Sark. His system and play calling remains intact unlike Georgia and LSU where they both replaced their OC. Thank goodness Sark didn't go to Colorado. Yes, it stinks that Young won't be able to compete in the spring but the play calling is there for him to study and drill during his space time.

I already thought about this.
I think it will be close to impossible now for Bryce to win the starting job before the season kicks off.
Unfortunately Mac Jones is good enough to where he’s likely not going to be pulled out for a horrible performance, but not good enough to ultimately get us where we want to go. Very similar to Jalen/Tua in 2017.

Hopefully Saban does something similar to what Dabo did in 2018 with TLawrence. He simply let Kelly Bryant remain the starter until Trevor got good enough to take over mid-season. That decision won them the national championship. That’s probably what Saban should do this year, and if we’re trailing Georgia at the half, maybe put Bryce in.

Of course it all depends on how quickly Bryce develops in the offense. If by game 1 he’s clearly doing better in practice, you’ve gotta start him. Which is still very possible. His arm talent and accuracy is worlds better than Mac

I thought the same thing. This is a similar situation in my opinion. Of course, Lawrence had spring practice as an early enrollee his first year. But I still think that if Bryce Young is the player that he's being touted to be then he has the ability to unseat Mac if he starts underperforming. My hope is that Saban dosen't wait too long to make the decision this time, unlike 2017.

I think Saban learned a huge lesson from that (I hope).
I think the main difference is that Jalen had already cemented himself as a leader, and had taken the team to the championship the year before. Not to mention his running ability as an x-factor.
Mac Jones is 2-1 as a starter, and has very limited mobility. Not to mention has a propensity to throw some ill-advised passes.
He is far from a cemented starter, and has never really “won” the starting job

I totally agree. Young is far and away the more physically talented player. He's polished as a passer, at reading defenses and can ab lib when things break down. Even if he is just a freshman, the team body language will tell you who they want leading them. The team responded to Tua in such a way in the national championship game that year it makes you wonder why he wasn't in the game sooner. Even though Ruggs and Jeudy are gone, there are elite players at WR. The offensive line, running backs and tight ends are among the best in the nation. Bryce Young looks like the real deal so I hope that the staff dosen't hold off on playing him.

Mac Jones will start game one and do well. Bryce will log meaningful snaps early and often and there will be a legit competition throughout the season assuming Bryce lives up to the hype. We are in great shape with Mac. I do hope Bryce is the phenom that we think he is though. Gonna be tougher on him without spring ball. Would have been invaluable to him.

I disagree. I would take every Saban QB over Mac Jones except for maybe JPW.

If Mac Jones is the starter, we’re going to be primed for a loss - esp against georgia
