I'm really concerned Byrne is going to overthink this.

Kiffin is by far and away the best, most proven coach available that we KNOW for a fact can hold his own in the SEC. He's the obvious successor. His ego can handle following CNS.

Every fanbase loves to hate Kiffin, he would be a perfect fit at Bama as most of us have always loved him and his humor - he just finished a season where his only losses were to Alabama and Georgia. He literally coached circles around James Franklin in their bowl game- a coach most people agree is a top ten coach in college ball.

DeBoer we've never seen in the south, or in a difficult league, or without an elite QB. Look at Dabo without a top 5 pick at QB - hot garbage.

Lanning already openly stating he's staying at Oregon. Dont blame him. Easier path to the playoff, nike money, and probably waiting on a NFL job.

Give Kiffin the job and he's ours for the next 20-30 years. He's already tasted the nfl, and has become a perfect fit in todays semi pro league AKA college football- give him the throne and he's not going anywhere.

How can this not be an obvious slam dunk go get Lane Kiffin right now decision ? Because of something he did nearly ten years ago ? After all the "project" coaches CNS brought in to rehabilitate ? Like Sark ? Nobody would touch Sark util CNS gave him a second chance.

Because he bangs coeds.

If Nick did the same no one would give a damn...it's about winning games.

It is entirely possible that there are members of the board of trustees who would refuse to approve the hire. I'd be fine with Lane. He's done great at Ole Miss. But we don't know how many bridges he may have burned in Tuscaloosa.

Lane getting an offer here probably involves PI work in Oxford.

See, this is my point, screw that... Even if CNS himself told Kiffin after he got fired during the playoff to never come back we should put that aside and bury it to go out and make the best hire possible. Bygones be bygones. It's not as if Lane wasn't in a hard situation trying to build his new team and coach for Bama at the same time, and there wasn't much precedence for that back then so it was harder to navigate.

If were gonna let people "whoever they are" deny this program the best option available because they got an ax to grind that's a trajedy. This is business, check your "feelings" at the fricking door.

That wasn't what I was referring to by burning bridges. There was more than a little smoke that Kiff may have fooled around with a major booster or board members wife. No idea if it's actually true but it wouldn't surprise me.

People talk about how Dabo is no good without a top 5 QB or because he won't use the portal.

I think he sucks because he lost good coordinators that stayed around way longer than usual for winning programs. Once they left, they've gone to shite. There's other factors, sure. But coordinator consistency is apparently underrated

I agree 100%

I'd take Venebles team over Dabos right now. Venebles won 10 games this year. Clemson got lucky to make a bowl game.

Great. Now we are possibly talking about flushing the next ten years of Alabama football down the drain because some rich cuck somewhere cant keep his woman off other peoples jock ?

SMH

If we mess this up Lane will be kicking the shite outta Alabama with his teams at Ole Miss, and then it will truly be humiliating.

frick it all. Welp, Byrne is gonna frick this up. Unless Demeco Ryans is coming home that's it.

No Kiffin, no Lanning, No Demeco,... all that's left is an unproven West coast coach, that has no idea what the SEC is all about, and has never played at this level without a Heisman caliber QB. His team got mauled in the trenches by Michigan. No idea how people think this guy is any thing other than the next "hot name" up and coming future flop.

We KNOW what Kiffin is. My goodness his floor is competing in the playoff every year.

Suttles has been saying that for a year. Kiffin’s actions off the field in Tuscaloosa and with the way he left a bad taste in a lot of booster’s mouths.

That said, I wish we would hire him.

I just don't know if Sark is better than Kiffin. Something about him makes me feel like he's an under achiever

Chris Low said he hasn’t been hearing Kiffin or Dabo. He’s said things can change quickly but Debor And Norvell are the top 2. I’d like Kiffin, he has the balls to follow the goat.
