Florida has the #1 passing offense in college football. So they don't.

The OP quite literally fits into his "We are Paris. We are art" troll from two weeks back. There are a number of Alabama fans out there who don't know how to enjoy a win no matter how big that win is.

More hyperbole. If you dont want to discuss glaring weaknesses then feel free to move on to another thread. I dont care about winning a lot of games. I dont invest my time into keeping up with the program as closely as I have for as long as I have to see Bama beat up on inferior teams. I'm in this thing to this degree for the dynasty. To make history. I want a couple more titles so this dynasty can comfortably move forward as the one that all others will be measured against.

That's only because UF throws the ball 100 times a game because they have NO RUN GAME.

Its the only reason Trask has more passing yards than Mac. Because he throws the ball sixty times a game for four quarters. Lawrence is a better QB. Dont believe me just tune into the nfl draft here soon.

Dont think its the cfp trip thats he's complaining about. We as Bama fans want the ship, we dont want to be happy with an invite. We know that this run will end. You only have so many times we will be going to play for it. So to have this amazing offense but a crap defense that's not holding its own make people worry.

Precisely

What do you want to discuss? Yeah...we're arse on defense. We've known this since the Ole Miss game. Elite offenses are going to gain yards on them and it'll be up to our offense to win those games. Fortunately for us we have what is arguably the most efficient offense in college football history on the other side of the ball assisting the defense.

There is really nothing more to discuss on this topic. We've discussed it ad nauseum for the last 11 games. The fact of the matter is, misses in recruiting in 2018 and 2019 led us to where we are. Fortunately the classes of '20 and '21 have remedied the talent disparity. You're already starting to see that as our defense is improved from 2019.

Well, how about this point I made in the OP. Maybe this is the answer to our shite D maybe it isn't, but it's at least worth discussing.

quote:

7. If the D is going to allow a TD almost every possession vs a competent offense then the game is reduced to getting a couple stops, and outscoring everyone.

Then why not blitz the ever living hell all game long trying to create the kind of negative plays that could possibly help Bama get one of those rare stops. If it's get a turnover, or create a huge negative play, or give up a TD then what do you have to lose ?

We've had our share of recruiting misses, but a good DC could hide some of those deficiencies a lot of the time. Maybe not against the elite offenses but against a Texas A&M, you shut them down. The biggest weakness on this defense is the guy signaling in the plays. I think you saw the writing on the wall last night when Saban turned to him and chewed his arse out for another bone headed call.

The thing to do against Trask, a fixture in the pocket except on those lumbering designed QQB draws, is blitz the hell out of him and make him uncomfortable in the pocket and give him happy feet. He's not Ian Book or Sunshine, he's not going to hurt you scrambling. Maybe Golding thought our front 4 could beat their OL but it didn't happen enough. AT that point, you adjust and start bringing extra rushers. They were picking us apart when we rushed 3 and dropped 8, so why not make him make a quick decision by bringing some heat. The results may be the same, but you just might light his arse up and make him make a mistake.

A perfect example was the 3rd and 17 play where Pitts got the 1st down by roasting Moses 20 yards downfield. Trask should have never had long enough to let that play develop. You bring heavy pressure and make him dump it quick and maybe we have a chance to tackle the receiver before he gets to the sticks. You don't let him stand back there and wait on Pitts to get past the marker. Golding's lack of game awareness was on full display last night and it very nearly cost us an SEC title.

I might be wrong about this because I have no clue about football X’s and O’s.

But I think we can play more straight up defense against Clemson. As in, Surtain and Jobe can focus more on their guy(Rogers and Powell) while the LBs and safeties play more traditional defense or assignments or whatever you want to call it.

I know Etienne is a fantastic receiver, but UF was throwing 2 HUGE mismatches at Alabama linebackers and safeties. They almost COULD NOT be stopped. Add Grimes, their other receivers, and RBs flying out of the backfield every which way and Alabama’s defense was covering every square inch of the field at all times with wild mismatches having their way.

Clemson is capable of putting up a ton of points, but I don’t think they’ll stress the defense quite like UF did.

Idk if any of that made sense

Lol Clemson would not whip Florida. The idea of those white dbs and LBs covering Pitts and toney in mismatch situations would actually be hilarious

The pyramids. I believe we are giving the Egyptians too much credit. They haven’t done shite since then, why should we think that they built those

and there is the rub... how does Bama find and hire an ACE DC who will stay and be satisfied with DC seemingly forever? Not sure what Dabo puts in the kool-aid up there; but, need a massive dose (right after the ACE DC is found)...
Dont bring up 3rd and Kirby... he stayed a long time.. only part of the request

We need the Vols to fire Pruitt so we can have our DC back. And maybe this time Pruitt will realize DC is his calling and not chase a HC spot.
