He was asked at one of the bowl games, maybe before the orange if he was the next OC and he said he was not. This was after reports earlier in the month that he would in fact take over.

Read an interview after he took the Miami job and he said there were talks appeared to be leading that way but it was not offered...

If he had stayed, he would've got the job as long he accepted the conditions set by the HC. Like Boz said, Enos wanted Pro offense and Saban wanted Spread.
