He won again and onto the finals . Won in 3 sets and was down 5-1 in the 3rd set tiebreaker before coming back 8-6. That’s impressive stuff.

The Alabama track and field programs saw 10 student-athletes, across seven events, punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships, as the Crimson Tide's entire 4x400-meter relay contingent advanced in multiple events. The third day of the NCAA East Prelims served as the conclusion of the men's competition at Kentucky's Outdoor Track and Field Complex.

In Alabama's opening event of the day, Victoria Faber suited up in the rescheduled women's pole vault. Sitting on her third-and-final attempt at the 4.20-meter threshold (13-9.25), the Crimson Tide senior sailed over the bar to stay alive for a spot in the national meet. Once the bar was raised to the 4.30-meter mark, Faber would become one of only three pole vaulters to clear the mark on the first attempt. The feat not only became a personal best for Faber, but also became the third-highest mark in UA history as Faber successfully earned a National Championships advancement for the first time in her career.

From there, the Crimson Tide men would steamroll through the track as nine student-athletes advanced to the national meet across six events.

In the first men's event of the day for UA, Jekovan Rhetta, Tarsis Orogot, Khaleb McRae and Matthew Weaver solidified their place in Eugene, Ore., behind a season-best, 39.03-performance in the 4x100-meter relay.

McRae (third | 44.78) returned to the track soon after, alongside Samuel Ogazi (first | 44.53, PB), as the duo calmly finished in the top-three overall en route to their Nationals-advancing performances. Oussama El Bouchayby would follow suit with a qualifying time of his own in the 800-meter quarterfinal after clocking the fourth-fastest time overall, at 1:45.69.

Later in the evening, UA's 400-meter hurdle trio of Clayton Elder (11th | 50.48), Corde Long (third | 49.27) and Chris Robinson (first | 48.77) glided through the event, highlighted by Robinson's facility-record performance. Joining the reigning national champion in the top three was the 2023 national runner-up, Long, before Elder rounded out the successful event with a personal-best performance.

In the very next event, Tarsis Orogot (20.00) advanced to Eugene, Ore., after he finished in the top three of his 200-meter heat. Competing in his signature head band and crazy socks, the Ugandan clocked the fifth-fastest time, overall, to secure his place at Nationals.

A short time later, Ogazi, Robinson, Weaver and McRae, after already advancing in other events, hit the track again, this time for the 4x400-meter relay. The squad not only broke the facility record (3:00.63), but secured yet another ticket to the NCAA National Championships in the final event of the men's East Region preliminary competition.

What a great achievement brought great honor to the school. The first to win the individual National Championship in Tennis. Congrats bro’. Roll Tide .

I was thinking there was one other who had won when I was at Bama?

NCAA Champion! Filip Planinsek Makes History by Winning Alabama’s First NCAA Singles Title with Thrilling Come-From-Behind Victory

In addition to winning the Crimson Tide’s first men’s national championship, Planinsek earned the first-ever singles title in school history

STILLWATER, Okla. –– Alabama's Filip Planinsek made program history Saturday, recording the Crimson Tide's first-ever NCAA title in addition to claiming the school's first-ever singles crown between the men's and women's tennis programs. No. 29 Planinsek posted a thrilling 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-2 come-from-behind win against No. 23 Michael Zheng (Columbia) to capture the victory and take his spot atop the NCAA.

"So incredibly proud of and happy for Filip," said head coach George Husack. "What a week and one that he took ownership of the minute we returned from Duke. He created his own plan for the coaches and support staff to follow and kept moving forward. Filip became such a better competitor during this month because of how he pushed himself in practice, how he executed under pressure, how he took advantage of opportunities, how he kept his cool in both challenging and frustrating moments, and ultimately how he never stopped leading himself. He played for himself, his family and the University of Alabama. We are so proud of him and this historic first for our program. There ain't no mountain high enough and Filip will continue climbing."

Planinsek's historic run to the national crown included wins over five consecutive top-25 ranked singles players. In addition to downing Zheng in the finals, he defeated No. 17 Cannon Kingsley (Ohio State) in the Round of 32, No. 5 Micah Braswell (Texas) in the Round of 16, No. 15 Cooper Williams (Harvard) in the quarterfinals and No. 9 Ozan Baris (Michigan State) in the semifinals. He also topped No. 118 Jonas Hartenstein (North Florida) in the opening match.

Earlier in the tournament, Planinsek earned All-America honors for reaching the Round of 16, becoming the eighth player in program history to achieve the feat in singles. Additionally, his season was highlighted by a 27-13 overall record, First Team All-Southeastern Conference honors, his second ITA Southern Regional Doubles title and a national ranking in 18 consecutive ITA singles polls.

"I just felt that I can win the next two sets," Planinsek said after dropping the opening set in a tiebreaker. "I was confident of that, and I broke quite early in the second set and then momentum started building. I started building my game. I started being more aggressive.

"I mean, just all that thanks to the coaches, the staff, Katie (Wheeler - athletic trainer), just amazing. I mean, I can't thank them enough. My family, I'm just thrilled."

Alabama head coach George Husack announced the addition of Damien Nezar to the 2024-25 men's tennis roster Friday.

Nezar competed at Campbell for three seasons, earning Coastal Athletic Association's First Team All-Conference honors last season and first team All-Big South his freshman and sophomore years in both singles and doubles all three seasons. The Eden, South Africa, native helped lead the Camels to a 13-8 overall record and advance to the quarterfinals in the team's first season in the CAA.

Damn, you were on that one quick for a non school release. Based on what the substance does, it's hard to believe her innocence claim here. It's exactly what an open water swimmer wold ingest to increase rbc count.

Makes me incredibly sad. And naive. She was easy to cheer for at Bama.

We're from the same area and also shared a club team. Super bummed on multiple fronts. I'm certainly not here to shite on her, but it's just not a random substance you'd likely get cross contamination with, and that looks bad. Crazy she was tested again 4-5 days later and showed up clean, but I won't pretend to know much about PEDs.
