I’ve talked to Keon a few times the past few weeks and was really excited to visit Bama. He really likes the staff

When is it looking like he will announce?

Probably has a relationship with Hodgson as well being from New York and playing at the same juco as James Rojas.

Within the next couple of weeks I believe. More than likely will see multiple commitments in that time frame.

I hope you’re right about him. I’m just weary of guards that haven’t show the ability to shoot. Then again, if you surround guys like that with enough solid shooters, it’s not an offensive detriment.

You don't want every guard on your team to have the same skillset, we should have a lot of guards who can shoot the three between Shack, Primo, Quinerly, and hopefully Ellis. We could use another guard with Herb's skillset.

In the game of basketball, I’d ideally want every player to be able to shoot
This isn’t an either or type scenario.

Well Ben Simmons was the number 1 pick in the draft and can't shoot. Just because you can't shoot doesn't mean you can't be a good productive player.
Look at Herb last year, he can't shoot and was probably our MVP.

This team will have plenty of shooters to surround Herb and Singleton. One weakness that plagued this past years team was lack of ball handlers that could distribute to Shack or Petty and forced them into forcing shots or doing too much. Adding Singleton and Ellis would help that tremendously. One guy everyone should get excited for is James Rojas. That guy has a Power 5 body and skill set to play the 4/5 in this offense.

Well yeah ideally. A guy who is a triple double threat is very valuable though, even if he can't shoot the three.

Oats really did do a great job working with Herb to make what he does well -- take up intelligent offensive positions and distribute well -- contribute to his offensive philosophy.

I am very excited about him. I think he is underrated by most Bama fans. Guy is a baller and would've helped us immensely this season.

The Blue Dragon forward carried the Blue Dragons all the way to the Region VI Tournament championship game. In the last 14 games of the season Rojas averaged 21.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He shot 51.6 percent overall and 48.6 percent from 3-point range and 81.0 percent from the foul line over that span of games. Rojas was also second on the Blue Dragons in assists over that span with 39 assists and led the team with 22 blocks.
Rojas scored 30 points in a Region VI Tournament victory over No. 3 Coffeyville on March 4. He had a 28-point game against NOC-Enid on November 6. Rojas finished the season with 15 games of 20 points or more.

“They might realize that their playing time is going to go down,” Oats said, referring to current players on the roster. “We’ll have those conversations coming up, but I don’t know who they’ll be, some of them will be determined by our own players to be honest with you and how much they want to compete with some of the guys that we’re bringing in for spots.”
If Alabama players are unhappy with what they hear from Oats regarding playing time next season, the Crimson Tide coach said he’s happy to help them find a better landing spot. He knows many of them weren’t recruited to play his style of basketball when they signed on with Alabama.

“I hated it when coaches put a ton of pressure,” Oats said, referring to his 11 years coaching high school basketball. “Like if you don’t take the offer by Friday, we’re pulling it. I don’t do that. I’ll never do that. … (That) scholarship may not be there for them based on what other kids do, but I’m not gonna put any pressure on kids that they’re not comfortable with, but we are working the phones hard.”

Just looking at Singletons old film he reminds me of a Mikhail Torrance. Kid has skills. Good to see we are getting guys that can fo more than just try to score.

Man Torrance was one of my favorites during that time.
