To be fair, he played with a cast on, so I wouldn’t consider him fully back. He may have heard how long he was supposed to be in a cast and assumed he would be out until it was off, like most people would have likely done. Then again, he may have just made that shite up.
It was pretty common knowledge that Herb was most likely going to be back by TAMU at the latest, Cecil and a few others said that over a week ago.
Not saying he doesn't know some things about recruiting I'm sure he does, I know he talked to Ellis and his coach last week because he wrote an article about it.

I think our playing style with us being top 10 in scoring offense and pace of play is really gonna help us with some of these highly rated 2021 guards. You know they are liking what they see when they watch us play and we are scoring 80 to 100 points playing wide open.

I hope. This is one reason I wanted Oats to run his system no matter what.

We are actually the 2nd highest scoring team in CBB right now. Going to OT the last two games helped but I'll take it.
Gonzaga is first and Duke is 3rd.

Just read the newest interview with Ellis, his number one factor seems to be going somewhere he can play a good bit right away.
Not sure if that hurts us or not but we do return a lot of guards next year, Quinerly, Petty, Herb, Shack, Forbes, possibly Kira. I could see him being our 5th guard in the rotation if Kira doesn't return.
We are still by far his best offer but he says he has been hearing from Ole Miss, Georgia, Kansas State, and Iowa State among others.
He mentioned last week possibly visiting here Saturday (15th) but I haven't seen any confirmation since or heard anything new about it.

Man Bediako would be huge - his skillset is basically what Oats would build in a lab for his system.

Is Josh Primo also looking to reclassify like Bediako?
Posted on 2/16/20 at 10:23 am to Gary Busey
I think it has been mentioned that it is a possibility.

Hasn’t Bediako shot down the speculation of him reclassifying? I think it’s a legitimate option for Primo.
Also, did Keon Ellis visit this weekend?

We are probably gonna need to sign 3 or 4 guards in the 2021 class. Looking at it now, in 2021 we'll have Quinerly, Shackelford, Forbes. There will be a lot of opportunity to come in and play early.
2021 guards we seem to be targeting the hardest/have the best shot at are
JD Davison, Daeshun Ruffin, Chance Moore - All 3 are being recruited by Pettyway
Josh Primo, Dallan Coleman, Wesley Cardet.
All these guards are from the southeast with the exception of Primo who is from Canada.
I imagine we will either go the JUCO route or the Grad transfer route to try to get a guard or two who has experience. I hope we get Keon Ellis, he would be a Jr. next year then a Senior in 2021 so that would likely help a lot.

You technically may could count Ambrose in with those 2021 guards.
Seems the staff wants to develop him into a G which would give us good match-up advantages with him being 6'8 200+. He does seem to be a good enough ball handler and shooter to be able to pull it off.

“They said how they see my game thoroughly and see my numbers and think they can develop me into a guard,” Ambrose-Hylton said about the Alabama staff. “They really love the way I play. Their playing style really fits me and what I can become.”

I feel good about us getting Keon Ellis I'd say there is a 90% chance we get him.

Sounds like it’s between us andCreighton for Primo. And if he reclassify the odds are in our favor.
So I’m guessing for next year...
Losing:
Beetle
Kira
Galin
Hawkins
Entering:
Ambrose
Ellis
Primo
Unknown Big(hopefully Bediako)

“It’s going pretty good,” Primo said of the process. “I’m looking at reclassifying [to 2020]. I’m thinking about it and I’m starting to narrow down my schools.”
Primo said he hopes to make a reclassification decision in the next week or so, and plans to make his college choice next month.
Primo has taken official visits to Alabama and Creighton. What stuck out about those visits?
“Alabama, the energy was crazy in the arena especially.” Primo explained. “The people out there are just really nice people. Coach Nate Oates is a great guy who plays how I want to play.”
“Creighton, what I love about them is they let it fly,” he said. “Those guys all play for each other. Their culture is everyone is for each other. Also the crowd there is just amazing.”

It might be between Ellis and Primo. When I said 90% for Ellis earlier I wasn't taking into account Primo reclassifying. I just think Ellis is ours if we want him based off of things he has said and the fact that we are by far his best offer. He is probably option 1B to Primo being 1A if he does indeed reclassify.
Just depends on who we lose, if Hawkins or Smith does transfer not out of the question we try to sign Ellis and Primo.

If I’m a guard who enjoys running and shooting 3s, as long as I don’t have a true blue blood offer, I’d take a long hard look at Bama. Oats has been true to his word on how we will play since day one.
