Does everyone get invited to these nike camps in the offseason? Herb and Petty did. Doesnt seem they would want complete trash at their camps.

The average last season for 3 pt percentage was 35.2. So Buffalo has 5 shooters right around the average. All Oats demands is if you get an open look, you’d better take it. Which leads to high tempo, lots of shots, and lots of points. The downside is it also leads to teams usually being able to run on you and get some easy fast breaks which explains why their defensive efficiency is trending negative.
Oats is a stats geek and a mathematician. He knows that if you take an above average number of shots, most of which are 3s and you hit an average number of them, most times you are going to beat a team that takes and average number of shots and they shoot an average number of 3s with an average make percentage. That’s his philosophy boiled down as simple as I can make it.
