I've thought the same thing.

Im probably younger than most of the posters in here, I really started watching Bball Gottfrieds last few years til now, so I haven't been through all let downs of coaches we were once excited that didn't live up to expectations, like some of the people in here have been.
If Oats bombs, as excited as I am about him, I may be right there with them though with the wait and see approach.
I could see some bust potential in both Grant and Johnson and I wasnt as excited about those hires as I am with Oats. Grant took over a pretty sucessful VCU program and while he kept it going his name was made primarily off of one game, beating Duke in the NCAAT, which now seems like more of a fluke than anything. He also didnt have much head coaching experience which worried me.
I was excited about Avery but thought it was a pretty strange hire, aside from his first year on the NBA coaching the Mavs he was mainly a bust there. He had no college coaching experience, and not much head coaching experience in general.
Oats has been a HC much longer than Grant or Johnson had been when they were hired. He was a huge winner in HS and won big at buffalo of all places. I don't feel like he has the same bust potential that Grant or Johnson had. Oats is very respected in the basketball coaching community.

Same goes for State. It was probably due to the fact that they were fighting for the same group of kids and it's not like either of them could go to the NCAA and be all "you need to do something about those assholes. I just had a kid turn down my $50k offer because they're giving him $60k and a car."

Speaking of sleazy coaches Idk how Im gonna be able to keep watching college basketball if Wade and Sean Miller dont get hammered.
I wont be able to take it seriously for sure.

Since big name schools are involved, I think the coaches will be held responsible more than the schools. If it was just schools like LSU, they would have gotten hammered.

It really should be the coaches more than the schools that get hammered imo, would prevent a lot of it. As it is now the school can get in trouble and the coach can just go off to a different school without any repercussions.
If Wade and Miller both get a 4 or 5 year show clause I will be fine with it.
I think the fact that with LSU and Arizona held onto their Head Coaches even though there is proof both cheated, they may get hit pretty hard. They are pretty much daring the NCAA to hammer them.

I say players need to pay as well. But NBA/NFL, etc. are not interested in keeping ncaa amateurish. If these players, agents, etc. were held accountable it would be a different story.

I get your point and in certain situations I agree, but I have a hard time blaming the players, usually its the players families that are trying to get paid by pimping their kid out to whichever college is the highest bidder.
