Coming out handling business and beating them by 20 would be a great way to start the season.
Under Avery this is definitely a game that would come down to the wire.

Nike EYBL Breakout Player of the Year: Colby Jones
quote:
Jones helped lead the Fusion to a 9-4 record during their inaugural 17U EYBL season this spring, and the development he showcased was eye-opening. In 13 games, Jones averaged 15.3 points on 53.9 percent shooting from the floor while knocking down 77.6 percent of his free throw attempts. The efficiency of his scoring output was a good start, but it's the rest of his production that allowed Jones to separate himself from the pack.
Gifted with long arms, developing athleticism and a knack for the ball, Jones averaged a whopping 8.8 rebounds per game - leading the EYBL among listed guards. Jones proved to be an absolute nuisance on the boards on both ends of the floor, and he paired his rebounding acumen with the ability to defend all five positions. Jones threw in averages of 3.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game, consistently stuffing the stat sheet for Shannon and company.

I really like Colby Jones, underrated player.
How many players do ya'll think we sign in this class? We have one senior, James Bolden. Say Kira goes pro, which is far from a certainty that would be two scholarships available. I was thinking someone would probably transfer but Fleming seemed to be the most obvious contender for that til Oats started talking him up a lot lately.
Looking like we will only room to sign one player unless we have some defections, either guys going pro or transferring.
I personally feel like Kira is probably gonna go pro after this year no matter what, so losing him and Bolden would open up two spots. I'd assume someone may transfer opening up a third scholarship but it's hard to say who it would be that transfers at this point.

Cont:
Anyway seems like it will probably be a small class unless we have a lot of transfers or Petty has a good enough season to try to go pro.
I am guessing we will have 3 spots open. Seems like our main targets are
Guards:
Daishen Nix
Nimari Burnett
Davion Smith
F
Marjon Beauchemp
Earl Timberlake
Would love to fill the class out with three of those guys.
Colby Jones and/or Rongie Gordon wouldn't be bad consultation prizes either though. I am really high on Gordon.
This has potential to be a good albeit probably small class.

Personally I feel it’s safe to assume at least one transfer each season. We have a ton of juniors and freshmen too so a little extra attrition might be good to help balance out the roster.

That's a great point, we have 5 Jr's that are on Scholarship. We really need to hit the 2021 class hard. Wouldn't surprise me to see us go after a good graduate transfer or two in that cycle.
Also thanks to Bamafan18 for keeping the front page updated with our recruiting targets, hard to remember all the kids we offer, great to have a place to look and see them all.

Meh, I think the grad transfer thing is a habit we need to break. Unless they are an exceptional talent or we have a hole in the roster that we desperately need to fill with an experienced player, it’s not a good thing to do repeatedly. It ties up a scholarship for one year on a player that may or may not work out; a player that you have little to no chance to develop through your system because they are there for one season. And it creates a vicious cycle because if you do it to plug a hole, the hole is back the next season. I’d be super selective with grad transfers and selective with transfers in general. I’d much rather bring in freshmen and develop them for 3-4 years in Nate’s system.

If I ever miss any offers or there’s anything y’all want added to the front page just let me know

Sounds like he is trying to take a run at my "best Bama BBall thread poster" crown. If my work ever settles down he stands no chance though. I am hopefully going to be back in full data analysis form this fall for my Bama friends.
Got a new test database environment which if I can set up, I can do some awesome things with. Just will need to find a great place to pull box score stat data tables + write the code to automate

You wouldn’t think an Auburn fan in a Bama thread would work but it has. I like to chat with the opposing fan bases sometimes when it isn’t nonstop trolling. I appreciate the contribution you add to the thread

Depends on the class and the roster that will be coming back. If you have no glaring needs and 3 open roster spots then yes I'd say those spots need to be filled with high school signees. If you have a big need to fill and/or 5+ open spots I think signing an experienced player or two who can contribute immediately is the way to go. Unless you can sign the kind of classes Cal and Coach K regularly bring in, you don't want to have a roster that is 40% freshmen.

I started watching in the 3rd, but still havent seen Kira. Anyone else know if hes been playing?
Posted on 7/5/19 at 11:45 am to RTN
Someone said he played like the last 2 minutes of the first half, and then I think he got like 3 more minutes in the second half. Don’t know if he recorded any stats or not

On the bright side, his injury risk is is the only thing lower than his playing time.

27.Kira Lewis Jr. – Sophomore Guard Alabama
Everyone you talk to has Kira Lewis on some sort of breakout list for this season as he showed flashes of greatness last year playing as a 17-year old freshman. Lewis is a good all-around player, last year he averaged 13.5 points per game which was good. The one thing that should be beneficial to him is that under Nate Oats he will play more in an up-tempo system which should help him put up much better umbers.
