I might be wrong, but I don't believe Ingram and Mack were very good leaders in the locker room

I just don't see how unless you think Oats is a downgrade over Johnson. We had horrible coaching and conditioning last year and were so close to making it in a loaded SEC. Beetle is the biggest piece of the puzzle that was missing, he will be a huge upgrade over AJ Jr. The SEC should be a good bit easier than last year as well with Auburn, Tennesee, and LSU among other losing so many good players.

I will gladly take the players we acquired in the off-season over the ones we lost, I think we upgraded our talent level.

Look at Oats' past. When he took over Buffalo, they took a dip for the first and second year, and he was familiar with the program and players. It doesn't mean that he isn't a good coach, it's just how it is sometimes.

If he wins 15 games this season, will you think he is a bust and Avery is a better coach?

So you thinking Alabama wont make the tourney this year isn't based on anything having to do with our Alabama team this year, it's based on what he did his first year as a college hc at Buffalo 4 years ago, a year in which his team actually made the tournament.

Look, I've given my reasons over the past two pages. I'm not going to rehash the entire conversation that we just had. If you want to know my reasoning, just read the last two pages.

We have a difference of opinion and we'll see who's right at the end of the season. I hope that I'm wrong

Basketball-wise, I wanted to go somewhere I can show my full skill set. At Alabama, I feel like I wasn’t able to do that.

My guess is he’s referring to playing for Avery or Oats asked him to man the 4 spot.

I think with a slower pace he can have more one on one chances and the ability to Iso. I dont believe the fast paced game is his style.

Fever thinks we are Final 4 bound and Cobra thinks we wont make tournament. The truth is probably in between.

We are probably a 19-12 type team who will be on the bubble.

Because im a homer I predict we will be on the right side of the bubble this year

...That's a pretty safe guess, not to mention their lack of basketball I.Q.

We suffered from a lack of secondary ball handlers last year, so when Kira had to sit the offense was in the hands of Dazon and Herb and we were totally fricked. This year we should be fine in that regard, but the frontcourt is a big question mark, so it'll depend on how Reese, Smith, Rojas, and Hawkins perform. If they get abused on the glass all season it'll be an uphill battle, but if they play reasonably well on defense I think we will be a pretty good team.

Yea, there are just so many unknowns. It's much safer to go into the season with low expectations. I've been a Bama basketball fan for a long time

That's what gives me hope for the post. Defense is nothing more than effort and want-to. If you bust your arse, even if you suck on offense, you can be taught to box out and rebound and defend the rim. You may get out-talented at times, but if you give max effort, you'll win more battles than you lose. And Oats won't put up with half-arse effort.

Sounds like Arkansas has the lead for Blackshear....damn.

I wish Nate would have jumped in on him.

Ya’ll think Kira and Petty have a good enough year to turn pro for real?

Someone here actually thinks Petty is going pro? He’s played around 65 games at Alabama, and looked to possibly have a pulse in MAYBE 7-8 of them.

Is he going pro? I feel like he’s closer to transferring to somewhere like UNA than he is going pro.

I think we make it to the 2nd round and will be a borderline top 25 team. We were ranked in the top 25 at the first of last season if ya'll remember and are more talented this year imo and have a better coach.

Any of you willing to make a prediction on our season? Maybe we can keep up with them and see who was closest at the end of the season?

We have these so far -

Cobrasize - thinks we miss the tourney
Mistaken - 19 and 12 bubble team who gets in.
CrimsonFever - Thinks we make the tournament as a 9 seed and gets to the 2nd round.

Anyone else?

I will be surprised if he doesn't end up at Kentucky.
