Oats says we’ll play in Birmingham and that for future schedules he wants to play some in-state schools LINK

Also, ignore the Acuff comment. He was wrong on that. He went to Lipscomb, not Belmont

Look at Oats' past. When he took over Buffalo, they took a dip for the first and second year, and he was familiar with the program and players. It doesn't mean that he isn't a good coach, it's just how it is sometimes.

Well in his first year he had to deal with losing five different players to either graduation or transfer, which made him take 3 transfers from junior college. Without looking it up, I imagine Hurley took some assistants with him from Buffalo to Arizona State as well. That's a pretty tough hit when you're transitioning to becoming a HC at the college level. Hurley left at the perfect time.

Playing in Birmingham is cool. Play in Mobile and Huntsville too. I don't care about playing other in-state schools, but whatevs. Other than Auburn, the other in-state schools aren't usually great resume builders. Losing to them is always a "bad loss" and beating them is rarely a "good win."

Yeah but we also play 2 or 3 patsies OOC

Instead of playing App State play UAB
Instead of Playing Southern play Jax State.

Although I doubt Bama/UAB happens until after Paul Jr. Dies.

I'd like to see the damn schedule before I have to make my prediction, but that apparently isn't going to happen. When are they going to release the schedule? Nov 1?

Anyway, Bama wins 20-21, is on the right side of the Bubble headed into the SEC tourney. Unless we get a shitty draw, we make the SEC semis before we bow out in a tough loss.

We get a 8 or 9 seed in the Dance, probably an 8 so we have the consequences of winning game 1 only to face a 1 seed in game 2 who sends us home.

That's fair, but what happened in his second season?

Not only that but Buffalo's best player, Shannon Evans, went to Az St with Hurley, Oats was dealt a tough hand his first season and managed to make the tourney.

He is walking into a much better situation his first year At Bama than he had his first year at Buffalo.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — New University of Alabama men's basketball coach Nate Oats doesn't just like the NCAA rules that will go into effect for next season, he's embracing them.

He likes that that the 3-point line is moving back to the international distance (22 ft., 1 3/4 in.), and believes the shot clock resetting to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound can only be a positive.

Put me down for a 6 seed and bounced in the first round... just because nobody’s said it so far.

Making it as a 6 seed and losing in the first round would suck lol.

Just read the full Oats comment from today. He said he’d be open to playing at Samford or at South Alabama, but it’s too late to schedule them this season

With this being Bama basketball, I’d bet we make it in as an 8 or 9 and play the overall #1 seed should be move on. If we can be like Ole Miss last year, I’ll be thrilled. Put me down for 21-13 and a tourney berth

I'm sure we'll be 17-12 after 29 games. And end on the right side of the bubble.

Seems like most have the expectation that we make the tourney as somewhere between a 6 and a 10 seed.

Marjon Beauchamp sure does like and retweet a lot of Bama related stuff, way more so than he does stuff from any other school. Would be amazing if we land him.

He really would be a perfect fit for what Oats is wanting to do.
