Reese is very versatile, one of our biggest players and he shot the best % from three on our team last year. Also runs the floor well, should even better now since he has gotten toned up.
Smith is gonna have to really improve his shooting if he wants a lot of minutes, he is probably our best rebounder and post defender but shot 25% from the free throw line as a freshman and 44% from the line last year, what's not going to cut it. I do like his toughness a lot and he is good around the rim. I'm not as down on him as a lot of Bama fans.

2021 4-star PG Daeshun Ruffin just committed to Auburn. He was a Bama target

So you would rather have an ok streaky three point shooter playing than our best down low defender and rebounder?
Posted on 6/3/19 at 11:42 am to Tide or Die87
He shot 38% from three, that's better than OK, was the best on our team. Only 81 college players in the whole country shot a better percentage than that last season.

Also runs the floor well
I will strongly disagree with that. He looks like he's in pain every time he tries to run.

Im just confused as to what guys have seen out of Reese other than he is willing to shoot the ball that makes guys ok with him but not Galin
I prefer Reese because he at least gives spacing for an offense that can use it. Galin’s issues aren’t easy to fix. He’s a bad rebounder, not a shot blocker, and isn’t much of an offensive threat. Rebounding and shotblocking aren’t exactly the easiest traits to learn. Reese is in the same boat with those traits, but at least he’s shown himself capable of hitting a deep ball for an offense emphasizing spacing.
I hope Galin gets better, but I don’t see much reason to have Smith in over Reese as of now unless they have a big bruiser killing us down low.

Oats likes to have a 5 who can stretch the floor, as he said today in his interview on Jox, which means having a big who can shoot well enough that he can draw his defender to the perimeter, opening up the lane for the guards to get to the basket and either lay it up or kick it to an open shooter for three.
Reese is perfect for that.

Oats is talking up the vets right now, nothing wrong with that, they need to buy in first. That doesn’t mean they’ll continue to play all season.

Yep, I don't think having a big man posting up is in Oats' game plan. And from the way he talked in the interview this morning about his ideal 4 being a 6-7 shooter, and having 2 PGs and a combo guard on the floor at the same time to go along with 6-7 shooter at the 4 and a 5 that can pull his defender to the perimeter, I'm thinking he is planning on out scoring people and not worrying a lot about banging around the basket with a big man.
I think a lot of Bama fans are going to be in for a shock with his style of play. It's definitely not something we're use to.

Oats KILLED the 2019 class. The best way for continued success is 2 good classes in a row. Avery couldn’t do that, he followed the 2017 Sexton class with a complete flop in 2018, luckily he got Kira to come 1 Year early.
Looking ahead to 2020, we’ve got 2 crystal balls so far for 3-Star SG Austin Harvell from Athens, AL. One from Jerry Meyer, one from Hank South. What other players do you guys see in our 2020 class that we have a great shot with?

I love that Oatees has a system and knows how to recruit for his system. He doesn't just throw out offers

I can see fans getting a bit impatient next year - especially if losses pile up a bit. I'm gonna be very cautious, though he is building a fairly good team on paper. We gotta give him at least a year to get this guys accustomed to his style of play.

We have a good shot with Daishen Nix, worse case scenario I think we make his final cut of schools, if schools like Kentucky and Duke come calling they may be tough to hold off, seems like a lot of the blue bloods are already leading for other highly ranked guards, so maybe that helps us with him.
We have a good shot at Devion Smith too, if we miss out on Nix he might be option B.
I think we get Marjon Beauchamp, would be a perfect 4 in Oats system, 6’7 but can dribble, pass, shoot the three, He is a 5 star, ranked 20th in the class.

I think he plays lazy. If he plays the post on defense, he will have to be physical and bang on the big men. That has not been is nature, temperament in the past.

Has Quinerly had a growth spurt in the last year? That video has him standing next to Curry, making Curry look a good 6 inches taller.
Probably just an optical illusion, he is standing further away from the camera than Steph is. Curry is taller though he is 6'3 Quinerly is 6'1.

Beauchamp would look so good in this offense. 6'7 Forward with a point guards skill set. He has been saying a lot of positive things about Alabama and Oats too. 247 has him crystal balled as 100% to Washington and Beauchamp himself says he doesn't know where that came from and that he doesn't have a leader currently. Oat's style of play would be the perfect fit for him.
Marjon Beauchamp, 6'7 foward with the skill set of a PG.

Exactly. Some of you are strictly focusing on offense. If Reese is our center.we.are in trouble unless he learns how to rebound and be more physical down low.
