Not saying they’ll never see it, but starting? Nah.

Well i meant starting. We may see a small lineup but Petty at the four is just to small.

I meant Virgnia. They and Texas Tech were very tough teams, probably the two toughest.

I think as much as I'm excited about what Nate Oats is going to accomplish from a coaching aspect, I'm equally excited about what Bryan Hodgson is going to do on the recruiting trail. We've still got Pettway, who will keep doing his thing in Southeastern area, and now we've added Hodgson. I believe we've finally got a guy that can make inroads with kids from the Northeast and other regions, and he'll be able to land some big time talent on a regular basis. He seems like the real deal.

ave no idea what the Depth Chart will look like if Oats really does go small, but by traditional positions, this is how I see it....

PG: Kira Lewis/Beetle Bolden
SG: Jahvon Quinerly/Jaden Shackelford
SF: John Petty/Jaylen Forbes
PF: James Rojas/Juwan Gary or Herb Jones C: Raymond Hawkins/Alex Reese/Javian Fleming or Galin Smith

I think you’re pretty close to what will see with Oats. Under Avery your 3s were 2s and your 4s were 3s. Only a few exceptions.

I could see the following starters: (assuming JQ is eligible)
Kira/Beetle
Jahvon/Shackleford
JP/Herb/Forbes
Herb or Rojas/Gary
Rojas or Reese/Hawkins/Smith or Fleming

Hope that makes sense. Rojas will start somewhere. Beetle will get plenty of minutes and should get time along side the other two ball handlers. Backcourt should be sick. I see Hawkins getting the most PT of the freshmen. I’m excited to see what the other new guys offer too. Crucial for them to get some experience this year. Seems like we’re all either juniors or freshmen.

Has Quinerly had a growth spurt in the last year? That video has him standing next to Curry, making Curry look a good 6 inches taller.

I said this after he was hired. Nate Oats was the PERFECT hire for the Alabama basketball program. Going to be special. Getting guys like Kira Lewis Jr. and John Petty back plus underrated recruiting class, now Jahvon Quinerly.

The future is bright in Tuscaloosa.

Former five-star recruit Jahvon Quinerly just committed to Alabama. What a MASSIVE pick-up for Alabama. Crimson Tide are now set for the present and future at point guard with Kira Lewis and Quinerly. Nate Oats is on the path to building something SPECIAL in Tuscaloosa

Nate Oats actually knows how to build a college basketball program though. Call me crazy, but I trust a guy who took Buffalo from "Good mid-major to Top 20" over Avery Johnson, even as much success as he had in the NBA

“Coach Bryan [Hodgson} and coach [Nate] Oats recruited me the hardest as soon as I got my release from Villanova,” Quinerly said. “Bryan came and met my parents his first week on the job.”

“What they did at Buffalo is special and their offensive numbers and strategy are as good as anyone’s,” he added. “They were a top five to ten team in every offensive category. The ball moves, they get out in transition and they created a culture where guys are super unselfish and that’s something I wanted to be a part of.”
