Wallace wanted to play more on the outside and shoot 3s, and CMG knew he wasnt very good at that. He made him play closer to the basket. I thought he had a good freshman year. He was a fairly consistent scorer, good defensive player and re-bounder. If Wallace hated CMG, he didnt let it affect the way he played on the court. Wallace just wanted to work on his perimeter game, and Gottfried played to his existing strengths. I dont think he has ever improved his outside shooting very much, though.

didn't Wallace sit out until January?

I could see us going with that lineup the way you have it laid out. I could also see the one Bird came up with. It is really damn difficult to say with this group of newcomers and factoring in a first-year coach.
But I do think with Oats wanting to play with a fast pace & get up-and-down quickly, that we'll consistently see a 10 man rotation. And you'll have an 11th guy that will play sparingly. But the last two guys are not gonna get any minutes at all, unless an injury occurs. It's tough, but somebody's gotta sit.
I expect/hope Hawkins will be in the regular rotation, so Galin is the obvious choice for the 11th man. He can come in if other bigs are in foul trouble or if they're gassed and we need a fresh body. But otherwise he won't play much.
The trickiest part is picking the benchwarmers. I think most of us agree that JDF will be one of them. He just seems to be the odd man out. But where do you go with the other guy? It will have to be one of the freshmen, Forbes or Gary. I like them both, but everybody can't play.

In the 14 games after returning from injury, Rojas averaged 21.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. During that span, he also shot 51.6 percent overall, including 48.6 percent from 3-point range, and 81.0 percent from the free throw line, and was second on the Blue Dragons with 39 assists and led the team with 22 steals.
Seems like a good all around player.
I really like what Oats said about him too.
quote:
"He’s exactly what we’ve been looking for in a player starting with the fact that he’s one of the toughest players I’ve ever seen. He’s the ultimate competitor and cares about the team winning first and foremost. “Experienced, tough, competitive & skilled players are who you win with in today’s game. His loyalty, drive, and humility fit our culture we’re building here at Alabama. James embodies all those qualities and we’re ecstatic to welcome him into our program."

Adding Rojas to a spectacular class is big cherry on the cake.

Oats played with 4 guards on the floor most last year at Buffalo. Since we don't really have enough pure guards to do that with I think in year one at Bama his base set is three guards, a SF and a Big man.
Starters imo will be
PG - Kira Lewis
SG - Beetle Bolden
3 guard - John Petty
SF - Tevin Mack
PF - James Rojas

Beetle is VERY injury prone. I don’t see him starting. WVU fans have called him the most injury prone player in college basketball

Can he kick Field goals though.?? Lol

I could see something similar to that lineup. Reese will never be our starting center imo. Kid wont rebound.

Our team didn’t do a lot of simple things like rebounding under Avery. I’m sure he’ll fix that or he’ll sit on the bench

Smith is statistically a slightly worse rebounder. This is one of the reasons we will miss Hall. We have to hope Hawkins can be that guy that gets us the boards.

Reese is also pretty bad on defense.....but so wss our whole team.
Our defensive positioning/decisions were awful. Everytime Donta or Reese got posted up they would try to go around the outside and would give their guy inside position to the basket
