Let's not do this. It's not really an argument either of us want to have. If you don't want to hear my opinion on religion, try to make sure nobody brings it up.

Another pair to keep tabs on is Jalen Green and Nimari Burnett. Where that would be remains up for debate but they have been great friends for years now and have been pitched by multiple programs, including Alabama’s Nate Oats just last week, about suiting up together in college.

Michigan about to go down the Avery path. Juwan Howard is the online betting favorite to get the job. Billy D. is #2.

May 20th? Sheesh. At what point do coaches ask him to tell them privately so they can move on with backups plans? I assume he's not coming here, but I would have thought CNO would have signed the juco guy already.

If they only have one spot left, it may be down to RJ Cole and James Rojas. We’d have to wait for Cole to visit UConn on Memorial Day weekend and then he’ll decide. If he doesn’t pick us, then Rojas can commit. That’s what I’m assuming is happening anyways

Coach Oats, you better apologize. You have rustled atheist jimmies.

I think the fact that I dare say anything negative about your favorite religion is what has some jimmies rustled.

I believe my post specifically stated I was happy to hear what Oats said.

But yeah, I'll probably continue to make jabs at his beliefs as long as he's here. I love the guy. But, if he can talk about his beliefs, so can I. Sorry about your jimmies.

I'd just prefer if all of our coaches at our public university would refrain from talking about or referring to religion, especially as a means to describe a decision they made.

Same thing goes for everyone in or running for any public office.

I thought the last day to sign was May 15th and after that, you would just have to enroll in school and sign later. Did I miss something?

You're the one that ignited it in the thread. And you knew you'd be insulting a large percentage of the forum with your phrasing. So don't act miffed when people respond.

Auissa, we mustn't challenge our intellectual superiors.

It's not my job to tiptoe around your insecurities.

If I've given the impression of being miffed, perhaps go back and read what I've written. I think you'll find your impression was influenced by the emotions you yourself were feeling when you read my replies.

Tider wants to have this argument, but I don't. He can't seem to let it go. I'm not going to apologize for calling Oats' comments "silly religious superstition." So, I'm not sure what any of you are hoping to accomplish by us talking about it more. If you don't want me to ridicule your beliefs more, the only option is to shut up about them.

This isn’t a thread for religious or political discussion.

Everyone please shut up about both topics and let’s keep this thread strictly for Alabama basketball.

If the head basketball coach brings it up, doesn't it at least in some way affect Alabama basketball?

Everything Oats says can affect public perception of the program and recruiting. The same discussions will be had if we hire Dabo for football.

If Saban was to use the floating spaghetti monster as the reason for punting on 4th and inches, would that not be a topic of discussion?

I just don’t think it fits within the environment of this thread.

I also don’t believe that the conversation was heading towards a healthy debate or resolution.

Just seems easier to ask that it not be had here and hope that all parties drop it.

LOL.

Well, just like with Oats' beliefs, if the Flying Spaghetti Monster keeps Saban from bolting to Michigan, I'll be glad he believes.
