I'd be really surprised if we get Watford.

Main reason is we are recruiting him vs Penny Hardaway who is one of the best recruiters in CBB and Trendon has a long standing relationship with him.

Second reason is Oats and staff are just getting on on him too late, he is gonna announce his decision in 3 weeks.

I think he is a Memphis lock at this point.

Would love to have Kira back though, he is a key piece and getting him back would be bigger than getting Trendon imo.
Oats offense usually used 4 guards on the floor at a time, won't work without a true really good PG.Unless we can find a very good PG somewhere else like JUCO, Kira is probably the difference in us competing for an NCAAT spot next year or not.

Hardaway has the number 1 player in the country committed to Memphis, in James Wiseman.

If they get Watford they will probably have the best recruiting class this year, one of the top 3 for sure. They are ranked 9th currently.

He has been an AAU coach for a couple of years, coaching some of the best recruits in the nation and has a strong relationship with a lot of HS coaches. Was a very good HS coach himself.

If Watford was going to Memphis he would have committed by now. Wiseman is from Memphis so of course he committed to them.

I think we get Watford.

With Penny mixed up in the AAU circuit and him knowing how the game is played, don’t you think it’s possible Memphis might be collateral damage in the FBI case next week?

I mean Penny goes from high school/AAU coach to coach at a major college basketball power and he’s reeling in top 10 classes right off the bat? If that ain’t the Ole Mi$$ method, I’ll be shocked. Especially since Memphis has struggled in recent years.

his brother went to iu when Bama didn't have a coach. It's telling Uga wasn't on his final five list.

Based on what? He definitely wasn't coming when Avery was here and he doesn't know our new coach at all and it's 3 weeks til he commits.

Would be a hell of a job by Oats if he comes here.

Oates isn't known as a great recruiter, he is known as a great coach, He won at Buffalo with mainly Juco players.

He can become a great recruiter of course, easier to recruit to Alabama than Buffalo.

Yes but only once in the last 20 years has the number 1 HS bball player committed to their home state school and that was Derrick Favors from Atlanta committing to GT in 2009.

Wiseman could easily go to Duke, Kentucky, or anywhere he wanted.
'
Hardaway is a great recruiter.

Last year Penny had the number 30 class. This year the number 9. Three kids from Memphis two who are three star players, the other Wiseman and one kid from Miss who is a four star player. He may end up being great but right now naw.

James Wiseman is from Nashville. He transferred to Memphis because of his relationship with Penny.

So this isnt like he pukled a kid he didnt know. This is a kid he coached in AAU right? You cant call someone the best anything because they done it once but ok. Im not saying he wont be good but to say he is one of the best is a stretch to me.

I’ve heard Watford wasn’t coming here as long as Avery was here Bc he knew Avery wasn’t a great coach BUT he loves Bama and wants to be at the school. Now that we have a legit COACH at Bama, Watford will feel good about coming here.

Indiana isn’t in it, Memphis had drifted away a little and their class is filling up, Duke hasn’t offered, and LSU is in trouble and out of it
