Yea I hate the shorts as well...the jersey isn’t bad. I also hate when we over use the script A. It looks bad when it’s enlarged and used as the center logo on our warmup shirts. It just looks cheap. Our hockey uniforms look great but we slap that giant script A logo on the jersey and it just ruins the whole thing.

Imo the script A should only really be used on hats and in the corner chest on a polo when we put it on our apparel. I wish we’d use BAMA in block letters way more. Put that on our warmups and hockey jerseys and they’d look way sharper.

Also the basketball uniforms should just keep the jerseys and make the shorts use two smaller stripes on our white uniforms. Have the crimson away uniforms not have any stripe at all. We also need gray and black alts.

Sorry...I spend too much time thinking about our gear...branding is an important thing.

UA is so concerned with its image and having a unified brand including having an office dedicated to keeping everything exact, but yeah the sports teams don't seem to have the same exactness of detail (besides the football team).

Solid hire. I will watch his career with great interest. I think he will do well there and will be a viable replacement should Nate not work out or leave for a blue blood.

So we’ve got one spot open currently, let’s assume it’s for Rojas or another juco PF. What are yalls expectations for next year?

I feel like it will be a big disappointment if we don’t make the tourney. We were one spot away from making it this year and I feel like with guys like Bolden, Gary, Forbes, Hawkins, and Shack we have upgraded our talent level.

Sweet sixteen baby, here we come.

Really, big man is the only question mark and I think between Fleming, Hawkins, Smith, and possibly Rojas that we should still be a solid rebounding team.

Would love for Hall to have one more year, he would do well in this offense.

I seriously think getting to the second weekend of the tourney is a realistic goal. I will be happy if we just make the tourney though.

I feel like we probably will make the tournament. But, I don't care as much about results in year one as I do seeing a plan and progress (see The Process).

I think this years team might be better than next years.

I could see Lewis and Petty going pro if they have really good seasons this year. Plus we lose Mack and Bolden.

Now if Kira and Pretty came back for Oats 2nd year we could be really good.

I think his year 2 may be a little bit of a rebuilding year. With us being really good in his 3rd and 4th year as this current class get up there to be jrs and srs.

This staff seems to be great and getting jucos and transfers so we get a few of those next year and we’ll still have a chance to be really good.

We have the potential to make the tournament but it's the first year of a new regime, new culture, new system. There will be things that go wrong, days that stuff just goes to shite. See CNS losing to La Monroe. Alabama should be a tough team to play by the time Feb 2020 rolls around. It's the months leading up to that which worry me. We may suck arse early as players try and figure out what they are supposed to be doing. I hope and pray our OOC schedule is lighter than it has been but not so light as to not get any quality wins. It will be a tough balancing act.

The SEC will be an interesting conundrum next season. Kentucky is Big Blue and nothing will change. Auburn lost several key seniors and if Harper goes pro, may take a pretty big step back. UT is in rebuilding mode, they lost a lot. Miss State lost some key contributors as well. LSU is in complete meltdown, look for them to crash and burn. But Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida, Bama, Texas A&M, and Arkansas all appear to be on the upswing. Missouri, Vandy and USC are complete unknowns to me. I suspect all 3 will struggle. I think whoever gets the most kids to buy in to the new system the fastest among UGA, Bama, A&M, and Arkansas will be in the top half of the league and playing for a Dance ticket. Maybe more than one of them; perhaps all of them. I can't wait to see how things shake out.

I'm no longer hopeful about basketball, I'm excited. I was hopeful early under Avery as he was a complete unknown. My hope faded pretty quickly, I'd say halfway through year 2, I was getting uneasy. Nate works and sounds like Nick Saban. He may not work out, but it won't be for lack of trying. I'm very optimistic about the program's future.

Good post. A big plus is that we have good talent, Avery might not have been a good coach but he left the cupboard way more stocked than it was when he got here.

Petty, Lewis, and Mack were all top 50 players coming out of HS.

Reese, Shackelford, Forbes, and Gary were all top 100 players.

Then throw in Hawkins who is a top 100 player, Bolden who should be one of out best scorers immediately, and Rojas potentially, who was a juco all american.

We should be in the top 25 teams talent wise next year, with Oats at the helm we could be dangerous.

I think I saw we have the 25th best odds to win the tourney next year, that sounds about right.

This is pretty much how I look at it.

I am very optimistic long-term, but not as optimistic about next year as some people probably are.

We have, on paper, a bad defensive team. Kira is a problem defensively, and so are our options at the 5. The guy defending the lead guard (granted we could maybe hide Kira on a wing at times) and the 5 are probably your two most important defenders. So, that's not great.

We weren't very good defensively this year and we likely (almost certainly?) will have a downgrade at the 5.

Or maybe Hawkins is a revelation defensively, and Kira could certainly improve.

We should be pretty good offensively, but we'll probably turn the ball over a good bit given that we're learning a new faster-paced system.

By the start of the season I will have hopefully forgotten all realistic concerns and moved on to determining whether we're a 4 or 5 seed.

We definitely weren't very good defensively, and losing Hall is a big loss.

I am not sure how much Avery preached defense but I know Oats does a ton. Hopefully we will see improvement in that area.

We ranked about middle of the pack nationally offensively and defensively, hopefully we improve in both areas a good bit, I think we will with another year of experience for the players plus better coaching.

Now the priority is to get another PF to replace the spot Watford would've filled.

Has Watford committed somewhere? Only ask because the vibe I got is he will join KL @ Bama.

He hasn't yet but all the signs lately seem to be pointing to Memphis. 247 is giving Memphis an 86% chance of getting him, which seems about right.

He went to Memphis and played in an all star game with some other Memphis commitments the other night, and made some comments about how he has only met Oats one time and doesn't have a relationship with him yet. Then he didn't come to A Day for a visit yesterday, it's not looking great.

Look I hope Petty becomes the guy we think he can be but I’ll have to see it to believe that he actually goes pro early. He’s not even close right now.

It might be an option if he has a really good season. I don't necessarily think it will happen, I don't know what his or his family's financial situation is.

Every year players who aren't ready go out for the draft. I am not 100% sure Tevin Mack will come back. G league money is not bad, I they make around 7,000 a month.
