Agreed, but that would mean openly admitting roster management happens. Even as Oats talks about guys leaving because they don't fit into his system, he never explicitly states he is showing them the door. The NCAA wants that cover, even though we all know what is happening.
Yeah, you're probably spot on with that assessment. It just sucks for the players. At least for the ones that really were shown the door and didn't have a choice.

Crazy seems like Wood would fit what Oats does perfectly.

Bola didnt know what the hell to do with the ball in his hands i remember him not even hitting the rim on a layup attempt...but he could eat those boards better than anyone.

He fit right in

But he would be behind Kira/Beetle/Petty so at minimum 4th guard and there are other freshmen coming in who could supplant that further. This may just be a case of him seeing the writing on the wall and not wanting to risk multiple years of being the guard left out.

I’ll play devils advocate here:
Suppose Kira and Petty blow up this year in Nate’s system and get good draft grades and decide to go? Then how does it look that we told a guy that fits the system, could have taken a redshirt year, and then be a contributing team member to take a walk? I know that ifs and buts were candy and nuts...but you get my drift. I’m all for a little roster management for guys that just won’t ever fit what you want to do but you’ve got to be sure. A bird in the hand...
But Nate and Co. appear to know exactly what they want. Does anybody else find it a little crazy and a little unsettling that we’re recruiting players from Buffalo to a major SEC program? Either Nate’s a fricking wizard or we’re going to be a little short on talent soon.

I wouldn't worry about that. He's also offering 5* recruits. If he thinks the buffalo guys can contribute, he'll either be right, or he'll find out very quickly. But, I've seen a lot of underrated players at small schools compete very well against the big boys.

Diante already took a redshirt year...
We are really late in a cycle where most of the best players are locked up. This is Oats salvaging this end of class with players he already knows fit what he wants. This is an issue if next year we are taking these kinds of players and missing on all of the 5*s

Will Wade agrees to meet with LSU and NCAA officials tomorrow.

He will be coming back to a cleaned out roster, jesus.

This is from jucorecruiting.com where they rank the top 100 guys LINK
Take a look at the top 30 guys and notice the schools recruiting them. Lot of good brand name universities there. And Oats guys committed to Buffalo are number 8 and 25 respectively. That may actually be a testament to how good of a recruiter he is. Because those guys are at least somewhat highly thought of in the JUCO ranks and they were going to Buffalo of all places.

Watford is still set to come to Alabama's A-Day. We're not out of it yet

Well he is a juco all american. I am glad he is taking him. Hard to find a big who can shoot. I will say this any big who willingly wants to play for Oats has balls. Cant be easy doing all of that running.

I'm on a Bama basketball board on FB (only reason I ever log on). Has some inside guys on there, including Drew DeArmond. Drew said our biggest issue is the assistant at Memphis, Mike Miller.

Theyre probably selling him on Miller and Hardaway knoeing what it takes to get to the league. We have nobody on our team who can do that.

He’s right about that. Only way we’re getting Trendon is if we outpay them. Probably doesn’t even matter if he comes Saturday or not tbh

Let's use that against them and say "We had an NBA guy like that, but we canned him because he couldn't coach. Penny is just the next Avery. Come play for coach who has a real knowledge of the college game."
I say this in jest, of course.

Probably not, but we're definitely still in contention if he decides to visit Saturday.
